How to bleed the brakes

Bleeding the ABS System

Print

NOTE
This procedure requires the use of a scan tool.

NOTE
Performing the SYSTEM BLEED FUNCTION on the diagnostic tool drives trapped air from the hydraulic control unit (HCU). Subsequent bleeding removes the air from the brake hydraulic system to the bleeder screws.

NOTE
The engine must be running to provide adequate voltage to the HCU module during the anti-lock control portion of the system bleed.

1. Connect the diagnostic tool.

2. Start the engine and depress the brake pedal to half of the full travel position.

3. Access FUNCTION TEST mode and press the trigger to run the SYSTEM BLEED FUNCTION.

4. Manually bleed the brake hydraulic system.

5. Repeat the procedure performing a total of two diagnostic tool cycles and two manual bleed cycles. The bleed procedure is complete.

Hope helps.

Riveter doesn't eject the pin after rivet is seated.

If your pop riveter is the same as mine, after you install a rivet you must turn the tool over and spread the arms and the stem from the old rivet will drop out. I had one stem stick inside the tool, and had to disassemble the whole thing...if you have to do this, have a friend with you...you need 4 hands.

The rivet tool dose not grip the pin....I never used this tool

The pin fits into the end of the gun into a three jaw chuck (like three fingers with small horizontal grooves on the inner surface) which grabs the pin. This pulls up on the pin while the small ball at the end of rivet begins to compress the end of the rivet. There is either a spent pin lodged inside the end of the gun or the grooves are worn down making a good grip impossible. Clear the pin from the tip by raising handle to full open position and try to dislodge the pin with a wire or nail. You can also take the handle assembly apart and clear the pin and or inspect the internal grooves.

Sharper and Router difference

As its name suggests, the shaper - essentially a router with added power -- is a tool used to shape wood. A shaper consists of a sturdy table and an upright shaft connected to a powerful motor. Its micro-adjustable fence ensures perfect precision cuts.
