Power switch will not start laptop without first removing the battery pack then locking it back in place.

Once you have the laptop started, you need to download the acer battery checker program. The battery may be bad.

It's also possible the laptop is going into hibernation mode and for some reason isn't coming out of it when you hit the power button. You can turn this mode off in windows under power settings.

My computer is not coming on..I left it

Yes..ACER laptops have serious power and sound issues in my experience. Does it work ok with adapter power?

I wouldn't waste time buying another battery pack unless you really need to be mobile....because ACER laptop batteries give less than 60 minutes on battery...

Bottomline: If being mobile is absolutely important buy a new battery pack...

Acer Laptop Aspire 5050

Hi, you can do a simple check to establish which is at fault, your battery or power pack.
If your computer runs OK on the power pack then the battery is at fault. If the computer will not run on the power pack then the power pack is the cause.
