Question about Toshiba DVD & Blu-Ray Players

2 Answers

I want to make my UK DVD player play DVD's from N America.

We own a Toshiba SD 280 EKB DVD player. I want to change the codes so it will play N American DVD's. Can you help? Our N American DVD's were all purchased in Canada and are not pirated.

Try the following procedure
- Power On
- Open Tray
- Press 9879 0 (0 stands for Multiregion, you may press buttons 1 to 6 to choose a specific region)
- A Message appears stating that "The Reg.No was changed to: [insert whatever region (0-6) you selected here]"

Cheers

Hi,

Because your DVD player is from "Over Seas", you'll have to not only make the DVD player "Code/Region Free", you'll have to use a "Video Converter"(such as the "Atlona CDM-660") so you can play it on your American TV.

However, if you have a "Multisystem Television" you can forgo the "Video Converter"

Does anyone know lock code for vcr/dvd player: Toshiba SD-V394SU? I want to play a region 2 dvd. Appreciate if someone could help. Joe B.

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.
