VCR Tape will not play, it keeps ejecting (by 2 users)

I am trying to play a VCR tape. I push in the tape, it shows PLAY on the screen, then it shows EJECT on the screen and ejects the tape. I have never had any problems in the past with it.

I have tried unplugging the TV waiting 60 seconds and then plugging it back in again. I have turned off the REPEAT play. I looked inside to make sure nothing was in there. It is a wall mounted TV so my children can't reach it but you can never be too sure.

I have the same problem. I have a Phillips comb. DVD/VCR unit which is approx. 2 years old. I use it every day to tape my favourite and it worked fine until a little while ago. Every time I push in a VHS tape, it now ejects the tape. I tried using different VHS tapes, new ones too, and it still does this. I tried using a head cleaner, but this made it worse. What can I do to fix this problem?

I have had this problem for so long. I just pressed the manual (rather than the remote) DVD/VCR button on the VCR to make sure it was on VCR and it recorded straight away so will do this in the future. Hope it helps others too.

I am a technician for a leading service company. You my find that the vcr tape you are trying to use has gone defective.
Try using a new tape to determine if this is the problem.
