Question about Apple iPod nano 3rd Generation

Nano Ipod- screen is dark

I have a one year old nano. Hardly have used it. Was using it last week when I heard a sizzling sound and then nothing. Screen went dark... you can still see it if you turn just the right way. I have restored it to original settings? I think on Itunes but screen is still dark. It had lost its sound and I don't know if there is sound now as it is empty. Can anyone help...yvonne

Thanks for the info. I called Apple and it turned out that it was under warranty! I paid for a one year additional warranty 29.95 and sent it off. They replaced the bad one with a new one and I have the additional warranty as well! I was impressed!
