SOURCE: Two hard drives Vista and XP not booting

If you would like to start up in the xp ,At computer start up hit F1 or F2 there are so many ways some times its hold the del key ,once your into the BIOS you can change the boot order of your drives to make the drive xp is on load first .You will have to do this everytime or buy a program that will do it for you .I would just leave the power unpluged on one of the drives until you need it that way it will be safe from a virus or if you have a hard drive crash you always have one good drive .Hops this helps.

SOURCE: i am facing Problem installing

I would go into the BIOS and make sure your SATA controller is using the AHCI or IDE setting and not RAID, if it is using RAID then it may need to load a special driver to install windows.

This is the most likely cause of your problem, can you also check and make sure the bios is seeing the HDD at all?

SOURCE: Cannot install Windows XP,Vista on Compaq Laptop(FreeDos) V3607TU.

I have two solutions for this problem. the first one is to change the bios settings. the solution is here:  http://techrena.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-install-your-own-wndows-xp-in-hp.html
but for some laptops this setting is not available. so you can try another solution i.e. integrate the SATA drivers in your windows XP cd. this solution is here: http://techrena.blogspot.com/2009/01/integrate-your-own-drivers-or.html

Hi Brian

You need to answer in the original post as a COMMENT to Mr Colton's reply to you. If you do it that way, Thomas Colton Jr will get a notification that he has a reply to answer. Your way of making a reply does not work as Fixya gets 7 million enquiries a year, so it is impossible for one person to see even a fraction of them.

Your post is here, so COMMENT to him direct.
