Question about Acer PC Desktops

1 Answer

I have an acer aspire 5920 but there is no sound. I've tried using headphones/normal laptop speakers and I get nothing. I've checked the driver (Realtek High Definition Audio) is up to date and it says it is. This is the only driver I can find in the sound options. Should I have any others?? Or is there anything else you could suggest?? I've only had the laptop a few weeks and the sound has never worked. i don't even get start up/shut down windows noises. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You'll have to go to the acer web site and download the audio driver.

Why does the audio cut out on acer z5700 speakers when you connect to a source at the audio output in the back.(expect this only when you connect headphones to headphone input)

When you connect headphones to your computer the computer will only send sound through the headphones and not allow sound to come out of the speakers. this is the way almost all audio drivers are setup, it detects the speakers and the headphones as 2 different devices and will only play sound through one (headphones first and if there are no headphones then speakers).

The only way I know to resolve this (and I hate this suggestion) is to purchase a headphone splitter. Connect the speakers and the headphones through the splitter, the quality of the splitter will determine the quality of the sound.

You could try going to the audio driver options (if there is any program installed by the audio driver) to see if you can get it to play through both but with both my Acer laptops I have been unsuccessful.

Hope this helps.

Acer laptop no sound in headphone jack

I have an Acer Aspire 7720z and have had the same problem. I am assuming your OS is Vista.

Go to Control Panel -open "Sounds" folder and you should see "Headphones" in the list under "Speakers". There will be a green tick on the "Speakers" symbol. Right click on the headphones symbol and then click "Set as Default device". Click OK and the headphone socket should now work correctly. It sorted my problem. If you want to go back to using the crappy internal speakers follow the same procedure setting the speakers as your default device.
Enjoy.

My laptop model is Aspire Acer 4720z. It doesn't have a sound unless you attach headphones or an external speaker

If you press the FN key + F8 key they are the ones that toggles the speakers on and off. There is nothing wrong with your speakers.

I purchased an acer aspire 5920 notebook a few months back my wife said that the sound just stopped working a few days ago. I have checked through the control panel device manager and both are functioning...

Can you hear sound through the headphone port? If so then it's possible the speaker wire came loose on the inside. If not, then it's most likely a motherboard problem and you should contact ACER for warranty service.

My speakers are not working I need help

go to the control panel ... first under the device manage in system / hardware check that the drivers for your sound card are installed .... next go to the sound section in the control panel and make sure the proper device is selected fro playback ... make sure nothing is muted ... other things that can mess up your sound include onboard sound disabled in BIOS, bad connections or bad speaker power supply ... also you can test the audio output using headphones

Mulitmedia speaker and mic not working

For the first problem open your multimedia properties box under the audio tab you will have a sound recording device specified, check whether you have your device listed, usually you have your say ( Realtek HD Audio input or the respective company input device who supplied your audio drivers). If its not listed ten you might be having problem with the drivers or hardware you will have to call the service engineer to have to problem solved.

for the second one try the same solution. select the proper devices under the audio tab in multimedia settings.
