This is the 2 phone that I have had and everytime out of the blue the phone crashes and I don't get a chance to back it up, because it happens all of a sudden. Just finished making a call and look up 5 minutes later and it was flashing the start-up screen. It just keep cutting on and off. It continues to show the start-up screen. Both times that it has crashed I have had to do a hard reset and lost all my contact information. Is there anyway to fix this problem without doing a hard reset. This is really starting to get on my nerves.

Re: Palm Treo 700p keeps crashing
Next time you have to hard reset, and before you sync, rename the user backup folder. This will stop thrid party apps from installing.the folder is C:\Program Files\Palm\%userID\Backup
Rename it something like _back or backu_
You'll have to reinstall 2rd party apps, and I suggest you do this one at a time.
But I also recommend you get and use NVBackup. It's a FREE easy, configurable backup program that can be set to backup the ENTIRE system to the card at regular intervals [mine is 3am every day.] then you can restore in minutes without even connecting to a PC. google it... or get it here... http://mytreo.net/downloads/nv-backup,1090.html

Press Up to confirm the hard reset. 7. Go through the steps of setting up the device again by picking a language and calibrating the stylus.
Now your Treo 755p/700p is hard reset. you should have your info on a folder on your computer. hope this helps.
Can you hear it ring when u try to call ur number using a different phone? If yes, maybe it isn't aligned properly or check the connector. If no, the software is crashed, it needs a software reflash/reprogram
Dhorner64 is incorrect. Your phone is not fried if you are in a restart loop. You need to do a "warm reset" which will not erase data. It is the equivalent of doing a safe boot in Windows. Remove the battery from your 755p, then put it back while holding the up button on the 5-way. Hold the up button as the phone starts. I had to do this frequently, then run the DataViz Tech app, which is available free from DataViz, to fix their prefs file, which was the source of my crashes. The problem was solved by upgrading to Docs2go v11. I was reluctant to pay to upgrade a crashing app, but the upgrade ended the frequent crashes. I have not had a couple resets since upgrading Docs2go, and no reset loops.
While holding the power button and re-inserting the battery will prompt you to choose whether or not to erase all data. If you choose "yes" the phone will reset to factory defaults. This should be done as a last resort, but at this point the phone is not functioning at all. Once restored, you can sync it with your pc or laptop and it will import all of your contacts, notes, favorites, and calenders just as it did before. In the future you may want to think about using an SD card for documents or other important information that could be lost in the event you have to reset again.
make sure first of all that there arent any screws missing or loose in the back by removing the battery cover....thats can cause the keypad buttons to not have a good connection to circuit board... if thats ok then you can use a toothbrush and some alcohol (denatured alcohol if possible) to rub and clean the keypad. If all that fails, I know that Sprint offers repair for their phones.
