Question about HP Compaq nc6120 Notebook

Network and video cards not loading

When I startup my HP COMPAQ nc6120 the network and video cards will not load. I check the device manager and they are not listed. I have also tried re-installing the the hardware and drivers to no success.

At times when starting up the HP Logo will appear, but very faint. So faint that it can barely be seen. Then the system stalls at that point, with the logo barely noticeable.

It will continue to do this over and over again. Eventually the computer must be set down and no attempt can be made to use it for a few days.

You need to download drivers for vga and network before system will detect them.once drivers installed system detects and installs software.drivers ..click here http://hp.com click on support and drivers....type your model in...select your model..select and download drivers.
when you install a fresh copy vga is default which isnt the best!!!!
sytem wont detect wifi blutooth or infrared until you install specific drivers.

Start->Control Panel->Device Manager (For Windows 7 and Vista)
Start->My Computer(Right Click choose Properties)->Device Manager

3. Once your on the Device Manager look for Display Adapter (Double Left Click).

4. Under Display Adapter Right Click on the Video Card Driver then choose Uninstall.

5. Restart the machine.

7. If the machine able to load to desktop try to Download and Reinstall the Video Card Driver.

8. If the first step did not work, I recommend to reinstall the Operating System.

Wireless network

Troubleshoot a Compaq Wireless Network Card

step 1

Open the Compaq's "Start" menu and type "Device Manager" in the "Search" box. Click the "Device Manager" icon.

step 2

Scroll down to the "Network Adapters" heading and click the plus sign to expand the list of attached network adapters. Right-click the name of your computer's wireless network card and choose "Uninstall." Follow the uninstall prompts on the screen.

step 3

Close the "Device Manager" window and return to the "Start" menu. Click "Restart" and wait for the operating system to boot up again. Follow the "Found New Hardware" prompt that loads on the screen to reinstall the network card.

step 4

Return to the "Device Manager" window and right-click the network card's entry again. Choose "Update Device Driver." Follow the prompts to install the latest driver.

step 5

Check the left side of your Compaq computer if you are using a laptop to see if it has a wireless network switch. Push the switch over to the "On" setting if it is set to "Off."

step 6

Open the "Start" menu and click "Network." Select the "Network and Sharing Center" icon at the top of the window.

step 7

Click the red "X" icon to have Windows automatically search for the problem. Follow the prompts to diagnose and resolve the network connection issue.

step 8

Double-click the networking icon in the system tray at the lower, right corner of the screen and click the name of the network you need to connect to if you are using Windows 7. In Windows Vista, instead click "Connect To" in the "Start" menu and click the name of the network.

Hi, I have just re-loaded the Windows operating system onto my Compaq Presario 2143EA. Then I downloaded the Broadcom drivers for the wireless adapter via the HP website. However, it seems the actual...

If the adapter is present(uninstalled), it should be listed in device manager under other devices and NOT under network adapters. If you see the adapter there, right click it and click on update drivers. If you don't see the adapter even under other devices in device manager, you can restart the computer and check. If still can't see, check with a computer hardware technician who will open your computer and check if the wireless card is being provided with power and if the physical connections are ok.

For further clarifications, please revert!
Thanks for asking.

WLAN device driver loading Issue

Sounds like the device driver to the wireless card is corrupt. Click on start>right click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware tab then Device manager. Click on the "+" sign next to your wireless Network adapter. Then right-click on your network adapter, click on Update driver. The system will automatically look for the new driver and download it. If there is no new driver then go to the manufactureres website. All of the drivers are there. Find your computer and download the driver.

Yellow exclamation means that the driver is not loaded correctly. Yes you need to download the driver again.

Check the Make of the card and download the driver from the vendors website.
You may also use the disk if you have one for the display card.

Hope this helps.

Let me know your response.

Sammy
