Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

1 Answer

When the washer is adding water, it sprays out of the inside of the machine like it's coming from the valves. It comes out where the electrical cord goes in... I opened the back up a bit and didn't notice any cracks in the valve housing.... seems to operate ok in the cycle until it calls for water....

Has to be a bad leak, likely on the line coming from one of the valves, or connection to valves.

No cold water coming into machine

Follow the cold water line inside the washer where it connects to a 'Fill Valve' which is a valve/solenoid. Using an electrical test meter check the two wires at the solenoid for 110 volts when the machine is calling for cold water. If there is voltage but no cold water the valve is most likely bad. You may also want to pull the hose to make sure you have water running through the hose from the spigot. With the hose off at the valve look to see if there is a screen at the valve that might be clogged.

Washer wont wash-no water comes in washer

Your water valve inside the washer is either stuck, no water going to hose or the washing isn't sending voltage to open the valve. Start first by removing the hose. If water starts spraying all over the place turn off the hose and check for a blockage when it connects. Sediment may have clogged the screens there. More than likely a new water valve should take care of the problem. Sometimes sediment can pass through the screen and accumulate causing it not to open causing it to stick when voltage is applied as well.

When starting the washer the water that fills the machine comes out with very little water

Check to see if there's good water volume coming through the hoses attached to the washing machine. If there is, check to see if the screens inside the water-inlet valve are clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If they're clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you should completely replace the valve.

My 'k' pressurewasher keeps cutting out

Dear Sir,
The power washer stops when the gun is closed. This happens because pressure is exerted on a control valve (Spill Valve)...which in turn touches a micro switch and cuts electricity. Now most probably your machine is cutting out because the spill valve is getting faulty or stuck down and closing the micro switch. This happens when one stores away the machine with pressure still in it. NEVER store a power washer with pressure in it. The spill valve also gets gammed and faulty because left with soap and machine not rinsed. I rarely service spill valves...I change with a new one.
To locate the spill valve open cover (using a TORX T15screw driver)...and where you see 2 wires coming out...there is the spill valve. If you can manage to do can try if you want to lubricate it by spraying SILICON spray. If you get it use silicon grease.
Sometimes these machines have the spill valve incoporated with the that case the whole head must be renewed. I wish to tell you to try using the machine without the lance. If it works correctly, then you have a faulty nozzel in the top of the lance. IMPORTANT...never run a power washer with water being fed!!!!

Very little hot water runs in tub

you either have a problem with the house water supply going to the washer and you can remove the hot water hose from the washer, first shut down the water, stick the end of the hose inside the washer and turn the water supply back on,if the water comes out normal then you have a bad water valve on the back of the your parts store and give them the full model number off of the washer, open the lid, follow it down to the bottom and right under the bottom of the lid you'll see the model number

When hooked up, (electric+water) unit will not activate. Power wanr is squirting water but motor is not on.

Dear Sir,
This is a problem like the ones I explained. I will write again the explanation.
Dear Sir, What happened is that you have a control valve (Spill Valve)..that when pressure is created it will closes down and puts off electricity by hitting a micro switch. This happens if one leaves a lot of soap in the system or more often the machine is stored under pressure. Never store a power washer under pressure!! Now all one has to do is locate the spill valve ...lubricate or change with a new one. Always lubricate with silicon grease. Also never put on a power washer on without water being fed.
The spill valve is usually located where you see 2 wires coming out on the machine inside.
Well just a small reminder.....if you left the machine stored with pressure...most probably you have the spill valve jamed in the closed position, thus cutting electricity off.
Regards, Fulltech

shut off the hot and cold water.disconnect the water line from the washer and stick them in the washer, turn the water back on,make sure you have someone hold the lines so when the water is on the hoses don't spray all over the place from the pressure in the lines,if no water comes out you have a bad home water valve and need to change it out,if water comes out check the valve where the water lines connect to on the back of the washer,if there are screens inside the opening on the valve pull them out and clean them or you'll have to change the valve didn't send the model number so i don't know what kind of machine you have,if it's a newer washer you could have problems with the electronics or something else, also i've seen water lines with pressure valves in them,if you have this change them out to regular burst proof hoses.good luck

My washer will only use the hot water

  1. First, make sure that your cold water valve, behind the washing machine, is turned on, and water is coming out.
  2. If there is water coming from the cold water valve, this water goes to another valve inside of the washing machine. Open your washing machine and take out the Diagnosis Manual (usually found in the top portion of the machine with the computer boards, or on the back panel)
  3. Diagnose the Water Inlet Valves per the instructions in the Manual.

Not working

Disconnect water hoses from machine. Inspect the filter screen on the cold and hot water connection. DO NOT REMOVE SCREEN. If full of debris, use a spray bottle with a hard spray to remove debris. If unable to remove debris or water flow is still slow, replace valve.
