Question about SVA-USA HD4208TIIIBU 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

Power cuts out in 10 to 15 minutes. Looks like something overheating in power supply. After 5 minutes can switch on again using power switch and remote. Do anyone know of a similar fault with other Plasma Panel Tv's power supply. IE: What part would be causing the overheating problem? I am a professional Tv repairer. Thanks for your time....

SVA is a manufacturer based out of China. Their headquarters is based in LA California. They specify in affordable plasmas and LCD's which are typically a generation or so behind other LCD manufacturers or plasma manufacturers. I have heard of this issue both in the power cord and internal parts of the TV's. Is it still under warranty? Otherwise, you can purchase another power cord. Contact the manfuacturer for those small parts.

My tv cuts off after 5 minutes

Could be the power supply overheating and going into protection mode. If it is under warranty use it. If not then you could take it apart (this will void warranty) and check for swolen or leaking capacitors on the power supply.

I can't get the tv to turn on. The power source is working fine and the tv was working in the store when I purchased it. Any suggestions??

Only to contact the store and get it either replaced or fixed. Fiddling with it or attempting to open and repair it voids any warranty

Here is the cheapest place to find the board.

You Need a new Power Supply, part # LJ44-00025A
buy it here for $139
I have my tv working like new.
If you want this time the power supply last, do not turn off, just press tv/video button to switch input source, let the tv in sleep mode.

Sva HD 4208 111 pdp

The turnoff of the power supply may be a protective measure to prevent fire.
Plasmas use high voltages and these circuits like to fail. If the HV fails and draws excessive current, the type of supply used is capable of protecting itself (and you) by shutting down if the HV circuit or another is drawing more than the design maximum current.
A decent tech should be able to determine fairly quickly if something beyond the supply has expired.

Can't turn on TV

Its probably your power supply failing. Mine did the same thing after about a year and a half. Of course its out of warranty and the shops around town cant get the part, and theres virtually no way to get a hold of SVA. But good luck with it.
