I have a jensen mp3 model SMP-1GBD and i charge it for a whole day either it won''t turn on, or plays only about 30 minutes of music

Yes, Jensen SMP-1GBD charged, loaded with music, won't play. The blue sensor light keeps blinking, but no sound. Any ideas?

Does anyone have a resolution to this matter ? Or do we just need to return the item back to the store and call this company a complete failure???

My son got this mp3 for christmas. I can plug it into the computer and the light comes on but when I take it out I can't turn it on. I charged it overnight. I'm ready to throw it away and get a different one! Are there any solutions or is it just junk?

My daughter got one for christmas, and it has the same problem. We charged it overnight and it plays for about 10 minutes before it needs a recharge. My daughters freind has one that seems to work fine. I returned it to Target and got a store credit. However, Target no longer carries the item. Wal-mart's cheapest one is close to $30. Originally, we paid about $12 for the Jenson. Perhaps Jensen shipped some of these with bad batteries. I guess you get what you pay for. There are no other brands of MP3 players for under $30, as far as I know.

I have the same unit a "jensen smp-1gbd" and had the same problems "No power and not working" But I re-read the instructions on page four under power the on/off heading, and followed them precisely. Low and behold the unit worked fine.

Lights up and plays when plugged into usb port but nothing when unplugged

I have the same exact problem. I am 12 yrs. old, I got this for christmas of ' 08, and it worked fine up until January 19th 2009. I charged it for 3 hours and plugged in the head phones, held the on button for 3 sec., and it still wouldn't work! I went to www.spectraintl.com and made a complaint on 1/19/09. That company is the one who produces the Jensen SMP - 1GBD.

I have the same problem. You charge it and try to turn it on and it doesn't play. We bought it at Target also and it worked great until last month. It's too late to return it even if I still had the receipt. i know we didn't pay alot for it but it's the idea that it was a Christmas gift and now it's junk. It doesn't make me want to buy anything more from this company. I would just like to get this one working again. Just because it was cheap doesn't mean it should be disposable. How long does a more expensive one last? I sure wouldn't want to find out!!

same problem. Jensen should work on problems

Apparently it turns off when you pull out the headphones plug. That's kind of clever. Once I got mine working it has been a pretty good little DAP, u just have to futz with it a bit.

Try This,

As a possible solution:

I have the same unit a "jensen smp-1gbd" and had the same problems "No power and not working" But I re-read the instructions on page four under the "power on/off heading", and followed them precisely. Low and behold the unit worked fine.

To operate the Jensen SMP-1GBD MP3 Player you must first plug in the headphones and then hold down the "on", button for a full three seconds before it will turn on.

Won't play back and is no longer recognised by my computer

Problem solved with my jensen SMP-1GBD MP3 player. I re-examined the instructions & followed them exactly as they were written, then the unit worked just fine. What I found out was that you first have to plug in the ear phones, then you have to hold down the "on", button for three full seconds before it will turn on. It was just a case of not following the proper procedures as written on page four under the "Power on/off ", section of the directions.

Disc full

try viewing directly with Windows: Open "My Computer" and look for your drive letter for the Jensen. Open it and you will see all of the folders and files on that MP3 player. Try mouse dragging songs into the correct folder of the drive letter.
