Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The tub @ my Fisher&Paykel model #GWL-08-US1 is off balance

The tub is leaning to the right and I don't know if a spring is loose or a mount has brocken off, I looked inside with a flash light and find that a red spring at the front left is the only thing that holds the tub. Is the tub held by rubber mounts or do the springs hold it in place? Does the tub has 4 springs and my machine lost 3 of them? If I need to open the washing machine how do I do it.

Water is dripping on the floor during the spin cycle. We tried to find the red latch to attach the spring too but dont see anything. Is the red latch at the top of the drum/tub?

You can lift the top and get a closer l;ook, by opening lid and looking approx, 4 inches back along side rail, youll see a rubber plug, remove the plugs toreveal the screws hoding down the main top. after emoving screw lift the top back and you see the 4 suspension bars tha hold the machine, either one "popped" or the left front corner should have a sdpring attached form it to the tub( clips on to the red little bracket on side of outer tub). either of thesse swill fixyour problem

Small red clip appeared on rim after being off balance. spring attached.

There is a small red clip that holds a stabilizing spring (notice items 7 & 8 in the graphic) which attaches to the top of the tub cover at the front, left side. You might be able to push the tub assembly to the back, right corner to better see this, but it is easiest to reinstall with the top of the machine removed. If the clip is broken or the spring stretched they will need to be replaced. The unit can work without these parts, but is more likely to experience out of balance problems.

Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer won't drain

Could be something in the pump. The pump is on the bottom of the tub.
It has a locking tab which you release and then twist the pump a hair and it will fall out. Warning: Have rags ready! I have the original GWL service manual and the GWL 11 supplimental manual. Let me know if you want them.

Fisher and Paykel model GWL 11 Wash tub off center and will not go back into correct position. What is the fix?

wip the top/back off and have a look to see if the two big springs are still holding the drum up, if one has broken or pinged off the drum brops to one side and it also jumps about when its spinning,,,replace the springs

Fisher and paykel out of balance switch fault

Machine should reset when it has regained "balance". It is possible the the OOB switch lever is stuck on the tub ( it is under the top in the right corner and hangs parallel to the tub ). Move tub around and reset load. Sometimes the OOB switch get corroded or breaks and needs to be replaced in order to clear the fault. Call F/P.

Tub goes out of balance every spin cycle

If it doesnt bang and crash around or doesnt seem like there it is out of balance (ie try running with nothing in it) then theres probably and electronic component problem

Balance Issues

Depending on the model you have the gwl 10 and 11 have a bal sw located under the console the sw may be engaging causing your problem. ( maybe corroded or shorted ) Or in later and current models they also have bal/shock struts on each side, one of the four maybe worn causing your unit to go out of bal.
