I have a HP Pavilion dv4 and it has a built in webcam and can't figure out how to turn it on

You have to open the webcam software to activate or startthe webcam. There is no button to push or switch to turn on. Thewebcam software is somewhere in the program list. Click Start/Programs thensearch for any reference to webcam or camera. Sometimes the webcam mightbe inside one of the manufacturers folders in the program list so search thefolders for it. Some manufacturers have something like EntertainmentExperience that will open and show all the entertainment devices such as thedvd drive, webcam, media player, etc. if you see it click it to launch itthen click on the webcam or camera icon.

Try using ManyCamYoucan always download Manycam and install it. Go to and inthe search box type: "" (without the quotes). Click on the link to go to the site. When the site opens look down on theleft and you will see a gray area that says Find Software. Type"Manycam" (without the quotes) in the white search area then hit thesearch mirror. When it brings back your results look for the one thatsays ManyCam Virtual Webcam. Down load it and install it. Make sureyou remove the check box on any junky programs it would like to install. Youonly want to install ManyCam, no additions whatsoever during the install. ManyCam is totally FREE and easy to use, and you will always know where yourwebcam software is.

Integrated webcam not turned on

First, you should check your Windows device manager to see if the drivers for that piece of hardware are working properly. Now if that's all cleared up, I know that on my laptop, the integrated webcam only turns on when there's a piece of software asking it to run. Try finding your manufacture's webcam software. For me, it's Toshiba Webcam Software. Run the program and see if the webcam turns on. I hope this helps!

How do you turn on a built in webcam on a eee pc netbook

The drivers for the webcam should be pre-installed on the netbook so that the webcam turns on whenever a program needs to use (e.g. msn chat).
If you want to take pictures (like photo booth on mac) you can try the website
If you want to use the webcam to record video you can follow this tutorial ( on wikiHow about recording to Windows from a webcam.
I hope this helps you out!

How can i turn on webcam camera

Hi there,

You can turn on / off your webcam by holding down FN (bottom left of keyboard) and pressing appropriate F key (should have a diagram of a camera on it)

For example:

Hold FN and F7 together at the same time and release at the same time. This will turn on your webcam.
Repeat the process to turn webcam off.

Hope this helps and please rate, Thanks

It's usually turned on via software.

Check your Programs list carefully. What model is your laptop and which version of windows are you using?
