Question about Frigidaire FRS26R4A Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Hello....I have a fridgidare side by side fridge and the water actuator needs replaced. I snapped out the tray and removed the three screws, but the panel does not seem as though it comes out and I am afraid to force it out. Is this what I am supposed to do? Is there a trick? Does the power have to be turned off for me to do this?

Thank you. I wish that I would have read this before I disconnected the water. the actuator has been fixed for a few days, but I got so frustrated with trying to reconnect the water to the panel, that I set it aside. Are there any tricks? I hope I do not have to end up calling someone out, JUST to reconnect the water. There does not seem to be enough "give" to put back. In the emantime, I have an "out of order sign" now on the door. Please help! Thanks!

After the 3 screws are out, you will need to lift the facade up and it will come off, yes def. remove the power, there is 2 circuit boards behind the dispenser , youll have an easier time disconnecting hte water connection under the freezer door ( youll need to pull slack up thought the door to reconnect. to actuator

How do I replace Water despenser when lever breaks off?

there are two slots at the bottom of the cover like little rectangles that a screw driver fits into and you gently pry it out then unplug any wires to the keypad set it down and can see the rest from there.
If you cant fit a screwdriver then there is a semicircular spill tray in the bottom of the recessed water station. Just pry out the tray, from the bottom corner of the frame from the side and or bottom. (I did this with a knife blade.) This tray is a snap-in fit. Then you will see three phillips head screws in the bottom of the frame. Take out these three screws and remove the frame by lifting up on it and pulling out at the bottom. Then take out three more phillips mounting screws to remove the processor card and key pad. You will then see the top of the water lever mounting. The lever comes out by removing two more screws that hold the pivot shaft of the lever. (These last screws are a little more diffiucult to get to, but not anywhere near impossible.)

Replace broked water actuator

You will need the new actuator, regular Phillips head screwdriver, putty knife, and jeweler's screwdrivers.
1. Go to this link to view the parts diagram.
2. Carefully peel part #14 using putty knife.
3. Remove 3 screws part #43
4. Carefully remove part # 4. Note, there are fragile plastic arms that snap into place to hold the top of part #4 in place. I used a flat jeweler's screwdriver to apply pressure to the arms so they did not snap off.
5. Once you have removed #4, you will be able to see the top side of the actuator. There are three Phillips head screws which hold it in place. Just remove those screws, install the new actuator, and replace the screws. Note you may need to remove three Phillips head screws holding #8 in place to get to the screws holding top of actuator. Do this carefully or the wiring harness which attached #8 to #38c will pull out which adds extra steps (If this happens, see below).
6. Replace all parts following the above steps in reverse.
7. I used a small amount of contact cement to restick #14 but it was probably not necessary.

If you accidentally pull the wiring harness from step #5 above out, you will need to remove the circuit board cover to replug it. There are 4 tiny Phillips head screws which hold the cover in place. Remove them using a jeweler's screwdriver, replug the harness, and carefully replace the cover.

Water overflowing in ice maker tray on a GE

make sure your refrigerator unit is level first . If it is , and you have eight square faced plastic cover on the front of the ice maker itself that can be removed by un- snapping it, remove it and see if there is a small screw with a spring underneath it or positive or negative arrow's on the unit where the screw is located. Regardless, if there is a screw all by itself turned the screw 1/2 turn Counterclockwise. this will decrease the amount of time the water valve is open during the ice bin filling cycle.

Bosch KSU 40 fridge leaks water

I found that the entire defrost system had frozen over. to check the fridge for this problem you will need to:

pull out fridge, turn off power, remove cord (whilst at the back check the grills are clean, all dust in the cavity of the house and the condensor is clean and ensure that the 'travel wedge' has been removed from the engine.

remove food and shelves from freezer compartment.

with small (2.5mm wide) standard pop the three white screw covers up from the bottom tray. Undo the 2 philips head screws (with a 2 point screwdriver) Pull tray out. Lot of ice underneath? It's frozen over! you're going deeper!

Remove centre tower by squeezing the sides at the base near the rear wall. remove.

Chisel ice and remove, pour a little hot water down the two funnels at the rear.

To examine how fair the problem is and to let air to circulate you can remove the rear wall and polysterene insulation by removing the panel in the left upper portion with the 2.5mm screwdriver and removing the red, far right socket (this is the fan's point). Use 2 point and remove the 2 screws on the rear wall and remove, remove insulation. You're in.

Let completely defrost, clean up and dry all water and re-install.

Broken water actuator

Hi this is tech crazy
the solution to the problem is

You should be able to replace this part yourself. Follow these steps to replace the water actuator:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator to completely disconnect electrical power. Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.
  2. Remove the drip tray (Key 23 in the image below) from the bottom of the dispenser.
  3. Remove the screws (Key 43) from the bottom of the dispenser module cover (Key 4). NOTE: You model may not have screws at the bottom of the dispenser cover. If not, push down on the top of the dispenser cover and pry out on the bottom of the cover with a flat tip screw driver to remove it.
  4. Pull to dispenser module cover up to release the top clips and remove this cover and set it aside.
  5. Remove the screws (Key 17) that are on each side of the dispenser module (Key 8).
  6. Carefully pull the dispenser module out slightly from the door. It will have wires attached. Pay attention to how the water tube and the ice door assembly are positioned. Pull this module out far enough to remove and replace your water actuator (Key 24).
Reverse the above process for reassembly.

Fridge making "knocking" noise

Remove the light shield and there should be screws under it. Remove the air tower in the back, it snaps in and there is 2 screws behind that as well to remove the damper housing that sits behind the light. Also not sure what your model is but some models have 2 air ducts that run up each side, they come out after the light shield is removed by sliding foward and then pulling down. After the screws are removed in the upper plate the light assy will snap out and there is 2 quick disconnects on the wires.

Water Actuator is broken.

I had the same problem with my water dispenser and since they were willing to sell me a part but provided no directions and I couldn't locate any I decided to make my own for those who might need them. Here is a link to a PDF I made, hope it helps.

http://www.rharriman.com/SupportFiles/FridgeActuatorReplacement.pdf

Before starting this job I would also like to warn all to please be save and UNPLUG the fridge. The whole job took me less then 30 minutes and I doubt anything will go bad in that amount of time.
