Downloading moviefiles from cam to computer so computer can read
I am using a jvc gz-mg505aa hdd cam and have taken some footage.
I want to edit the film in windows movie maker.
I have used the usb connection to import the files from cam to computer but cant open the files on computer. media says it needs to find a codec, but cant and movie maker just sys no can do.

This camcorder should not require a driver in order to capture the footage. Start up your capture software, power-up the camera in VCR mode and then connect the Firewire cable. It should then allow you to playback the tape and capture the contents. Your video-editing software (including Windows Movie Maker) should also capture the footage.
