You put NGK spark plugs in a Harley?

Get a spark tester and go from the wire to the engine block, if you get the light on the tester to blink you've got bad plugs, otherwise look for bad/broken plug wires, then a bad wire in the ignition switch, then a bad ignition module.

05 road king was stolen upon return frnt wiring screwed. Fixed now but it turns over but no sprk.

Hi, Tom and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test, your battery may show 12.5 volts but has little or zero amps and must be replaced.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables shorting or leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
8. Faulty ignition switch.
9. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
10. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

2005 road king mis fire

The bike may misfire at different speeds or under different conditions so one would need to know these circumstances to diagnose further than spark plugs which are cheap and a good starting place.

2003 harley davidson road king cranks but will not start

Hi Anonymous, when checking for spark the CKP needs to measure the compression bump in order to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM so always check for spark with either a third plug grounded or lift the end of the plug boot 1/2 " off one of spark plugs that are in the head. and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty
2. Fuel supply valve turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded with gasoline as a result of over use of enrichner.
5. Fuel valve or filter clogged.
6. Vacuum hose to automatic fuel supply valve disconnected, leaking, or pinched.
7. Discharged battery, loose or broken battery connections.
8. Loose wire connection at coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, spark plug cable connections loose,
or cables connected to wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to faulty ignition coil, ignition module, or sensors " Manifold Absolute Pressure" "Camshaft Position Sensor" "Crank Position Sensor" "Brake Apply Sensor
11. Engine lubricant to heavy ( winter operation )
12. Sticking or damaged valves or push rod wrong length.
13. Primary cam sproket spline sheared or missing spacer.
14. Security alarm system not disarming.

Harley Road King motor turned off

after checking the kill switch on the handle bars and the key. It could be a simple wire or even a computter problem check to see if you have spark if it even turns over, without knowing if it fuel injected or carb its hard to give an exact find or fix. If your not formiluar with the road kings working I would suggest you take it to a harley mech.

How to install spark plug wires on my 2003 Road King

Okay this requires some small or really flexible fingers. the very first thing to stress is do one plug at a time!
If you look at the very front of your gas tank down at the bottom you will see the bolt on each side. The tank has a tab with rubber grommets of sorts over it. Just beneath those you will see the mounting bracket for your coil.
Now lets start with the rear jug, unplug the spark plug wire, using your fingers trace it thru the loom behind the horn, thread it thru the loom and get it clear, then unplug it from the coil. Now take your new wire thread it back fropm the jug to the coil, plug it on the spark plug, then on the coil. Repeat for the front jug. Hope this helps.
