My son was playing his Vsmile game when I was not in the room. He attempted to change the games without turning it off, I think. Now the power won't come on. I've tried it in several outlets and even changed the battery backup but nothing is working.
This is a problem with the cartridge not the console. The cartridges get dirty and then the console acts as if its broken because it can't read the cartridge. Pull the purple flap up so that you can see the inside of the cartridge and clean it with an alcohol based cleaning solution. Dry the cartridge fully before inserting it back into the console. I have done this for serveral games and they have worked again. A couple of games have just broken and refused to clean up. Hope this helps, let me know.
Each time my kids try this, I take out the power cord from the back of the unit, replug it in, turn on the console to check that it is working, turn it off, put the game in, then turn it back in. This seems to solve the issue for us.

you have to do this in the right order or it doesn't work. Start with the TV and Vsmile OFF
step 1) put the cartridge in and make sure it is all the way in
step 2) turn the TV on
step 3) turn the Vsmile on
if it still doesn't work, unplug the adapter or take the batteries out and let the system clear and then do the steps over. Good luck!
We had the same problem. Put alcohol on a q-tip. Pull back the plastic sleeve on the Smartridge (game) and clean both sides of the metal contact. Insert the Smartridge into the Smartridge slot and remove quickly. Then insert Smatrige and turn on the power.
I did this to all of the games and now it works like new!
Make sure the system is off before inserting any cartrdiges.
Things you can try to get the V.Smile TV Learning System to work: 1)Press the Reset – Press and hold the ON button for about 10 seconds 2)Make sure the game is inserted far enough into the system, and that it is pointing in the right direction. You may occasionally need to clean the contacts. 3)Also, make sure you are using the supplied power cord/adapter, not batteries.Batteries cause more problems than they’re worth.

I got the system for my 4 year old daughter less than 2 weeks ago and it quit on me. It's rediculous! Anyway, at first we used batteries and it worked fine but the batteries went dead after she played it about 3 times so we went and bought the power cord. We plugged it in and it wouldn't work at all. I looked all over the internet trying to find a way to fix it because we also got her $100 worth of games and had already thrown away the box so we couldn't return it. Everyone was talking about a reset button and my system DOES NOT have one! I finally found a SOLUTION[most likely temporary] Take the batteries out. Hold the ON button down for 45 seconds, replace the batteries with FRESH ones and turn it on. Sounds like it won't work right?!? Well it did for me and before the game system would come on for NOTHING. Hopefully this helped! good luck
HI! Have a few ideas for you. First, are the batteries brand new never used good batteries? Also, are you sure they are in the correct way? If so, try to reset the system. Unplug all cords from the Vsmile. Then, for a full timed minute, press down BOTH buttons on the front of the console. After the minute, plug everything back in and try to power it up. If this does not work for you, please contact Vtech Customer support. You can reach them at 18005212010. Hope you find this helpful! Good luck! :)
