Question about Electrolux Epic 6500 Vacuum

Electrolux 6500sr power nozzle motor

The power head motor doesn't work, and I cleaned the brushes on the motor, but that didn't help. Could it be the motor is just to old ( 13 yrs ). Any ideas where to buy a replacement motor? thanks

If you go to aerusonline.com, there is a dealer locater function that will allow you to find the nearest aerus electrolux store. If there isn't one local, I would call one of them and have them ship it to you. You may be able to find an aftermarket motor on line, but there are several different models so you may or may not get the right motor. Good Luck!!

The motor on my carpet tool (beater brush) stopped running yesterday. The main vacuum still works, but the switch for the carpet tool just clicks and doesn't turn it on.

Knowing the model would help.
Possible problems:
Broken or disconnected wire in hose, connections, power nozzle.
Hose needs replaced. Check all connections for discoloration and cracked supports. Have power nozzle checked at a vacuum shop. Depending on the model, take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for this.
Bad power nozzle motor Needs replaced.
Bad switch. Take the whole machine in for thorough check and repair..

Now that I just fixed my Lux Legacy canister vacuum, I need help on my other Electrolux Regency Series upright! The vacuum works fine but the rotating brush does not work and the brush motor does not turn...

There are a couple rectangular holes on the bottom of the power nozzle, beside the wheels. These have tabs in them that need released with a standard screwdriver.
rogerpotts_10.jpg Once they release, turn the vacuum over and lift cover of power nozzle at the back. This pulls the front of the cover out of the lip on the "bumper".
Once this is done, you'll need to unscrew the screw at each end of the brush. Lift the brush out and thoroughly clean it, including the ends.
rogerpotts_9.jpg
Check the wiring to make sure they're connected to the terminals of the motor. Also, check the belt for wear and tear. These belts can last for five years or more, but if it looks bad a good time to replace it is while you have the power head apart.
When reassembling the vacuum, ensure the belt is fitted properly around the motor shaft and brush.
Insert the front of the cover first, ensuring the edge fits neatly beneath the lip on the bumper all the way around. It takes a little manipulating to press the back into place. Make sure both tabs click into the locked position. Turn the vacuum over and reinstall screws. Try to rotate brush by hand a few times.
At this point, plug the vacuum in and turn it on. If the power head doesn't run, press the reset button. If the power head motor still doesn't run, it could be due to loose or disconnected wires that lead to the reset switch, a bad reset switch, or even a bad motor. The vacuum needs to be taken to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for further diagnosis and repair.

My Epic 6500 power head will not turn on. Had to push the reset many times the last time it ran, and now it will not turn on. Help!

Does the power nozzle motor come on? Is it just that the brush won't turn? If it's just the brush not rotating, the belt probably broke and needs replaced.
Is the brush clean? If not, clean all threads, etc. off.
Check all wire connections for breaks, cracks, and discoloration. Power nozzle to wand, wand to wand, wand to hose. If any of those are found, that part, and probably the one it connects to. will need replaced.
Ensure all connections are snug.
Internal wiring, including connections, could be bad. This would include wiring in the power nozzle, wands, hose, or canister.
Reset or hose switch could be bad. These would need replaced.
Power nozzle motor could be bad. Generally the belt will break before the motor burns out, but it's possible it's didn't.
For any internal repairs, including belt replacement, the entire vacuum should be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux dealer. The service technician can also troubleshoot and find the problem. This is generally done at no charge.
You've got a great machine, and with proper care and maintenance it should last for years to come.

Beater bar will not operate on carpet cleaner head

Is the power nozzle motor running? If not, press the reset button located on top of the power nozzle. If it is, then either something is caught in the brush or the belt is broken. Due to some difficulties in reassembling the power head correctly, I highly recommend this seemingly simple job being done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux technician. If the problem is something else, the tech can easily find the problem. Take the entire machine in to the shop to help the tech narrow the problem down.

Central vacuum won't start even after depressing the reset button on the carpet sweeper. Hose and wand appear to be unclogged.

Is it only the power head that's not working, or the central vacuum itself? Disconnect wands from hose, turn on, and hold hand over hose end to check for suction. If none, go through first set of steps below.

If the vacuum:
1. Press reset button on vacuum.
2. Check circuit breaker at the circuit box to make sure it's ON.
3. Make sure the unit is plugged in completely.
4. Use a voltage tester to check for power at the outlet.
5. Check filter. If dirty rinse it with warm water, and allow to dry thoroughly. I strongly suggest having a second filter for use during drying, then just trade off using them.

If the vacuum still doesn't turn on, consider the following:]
Broken or worn out power switch in hose handle...Switch needs replaced.
Broken wire in hose...Replace hose.
Bad connection...Needs taken to an authorized Aerus service center for check and repair.

If the power nozzle (suction at end of hose, but power nozzle doesn't work:
1. Ensure the brush has been thoroughly cleaned of any hair, string, and other items that may have wrapped around it.
2. Power nozzle motor runs, but brush doesn't turn when vacuum is on...belt needs replaced.
3. Power nozzle motor does not run...All wiring, connections, and motor need to be checked.

If you can't determine the problem with the above helps, the entire machine, including hose, wands, and power nozzle, needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus service center for complete check.
If you don't know the location of the nearest Aerus Electrolux store, go to below site, type in zip code, and click on "view dealer list". They may also be able to send someone to pick it up.

The reset button on the "sweeper" is only to start the "sweeper" motor after it has shut off due to the brush getting jammed. It doesn't effect the vacuum operation.

Electrolux Renaissance power nozzle turning on and off, brass pins hot

The deal with the Renny is that it runs off of circuit boards. Usually the problem of the main motor shutting on and off is caused by one of the Triac boards located inside the canister. Another problem could be the thermostat wire located on the inside of your motor itself. It's almost never the thermostat, so the triac board is most likely the issue.

As far as your power nozzle goes, the head eminating from the swivel body is in most cases due to an older design of the power nozzle. I would suggest investing in a new elbow assembly that includes a new swivel body as well as newer style of wiring that is proved to reduce arcing and heat production within the power nozzle.

In some cases, fixing the power nozzle will fix the problems you are experienceing with the main motor as the arcing happening in the power nozzle can in fact turn off your machine. So investing in a new elbow assembly for your power nozzle could in fact solve the problem in its entirety.

How do you take the handle apart?

Take a box cutter blade or something razor thin and locate the 2 screw covers on the handle. Pry the two covers off and remove the 2 hex screws. Pull handle apart. Done. Might want to check your elbow down on the power nozzle before you rip apart that handle though. 4 out of 5 times, the problem is in the elbow.

Electrolux power nozzle not working

the powerhead gets its power through a connector adjacent to the hose connection to the vacuum end. there's two wires embedded in the hose which make its way to the handle, pipe and powerhead. take apart the handle and see if you can read continuity from one end to the handle switch.
