Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television
I PICKED UP A 55 IN. MAGNOVOX 51MP392H-17 FOR FREE TODAY. THE GUY TOLDME IT ONLY NEEDS A FUSE. THE POWER BUTTON ILLUMINATES RED WHEN HIT BUTNO SOUND OR PICTURE. I LOCATED 1 FUSE BY THE POWER CORD WHEN I PULLEDIT THE POWER BUTTON DID NOT ILLUMINATE ANYMORE. THEN I LOCATED ANOTHERFUSE ABOUT CENTER RIGHT I PULLED IT AND PUT IT IN THE FIRST FUSE SLOT IFOUND AND THE POWER BUTTON ILLUMINATED AGAIN BUT STILL NO PICTURE ORSOUND, DO YOU THINK IT IS STILL A FUSE? IS THERE ANOTHER FUSE THAT I AMNOT SEEING
I do not believe this is a problem with a fuse since by your experiment both fuses are good. Now put the fuse back in and if there is still no picture and no sound we can assume that the problem might be some other component on the power supply board, and or the High voltage section because this sounds like a shutdown circuit problem. If it is a shut down circuit problem the section that might be malfunctioning would be the High voltage section of the TV. I would suggest that you let a qualified TV technician troubleshoot and repair this television. I say this because this is not a simple problem, this is an issue that requires a knowledge of electronics and TV repair.
I hope this helps
