Question about HP ScanJet 5370C Flatbed Scanner
Both were working OK. Tried using 5370C and got messae "Sorry, couldnot access your scaner, your scanner is currrently being accessed by another aplication" Had previous trouble with USB cable so purchased a new one, installed it in the Scannere but not the PC. A few days later PC showed Scanner ready to work (USB still not connected to the PC), tried scanner and it worked. Now it does not, and dont' expect it too with the USB not fully installed. A 'whiz kid' says to remove and reinstall both units (I'm a 87 year old Geezer trying to learn something), but I don't know the correct procedures to go thru to remove and reinstall the 5370C Flatbed Scannere and thh HP 4 in 1. Any information would be helpful but keep it in as non tetical language as possible.
How to uninstall the software depends on your operating system. If you have windows XP, click on the Start buton, select "Control Panel". When it opens select "Add of Remove" programs (lcick). Wait for the list of progrms to appear and then look for the HP Scanjet software. Click on it and you will be given the option to uninstall. Click to uninstall. When the uninstall has finished, restart your computer and begin the process of reinstalling the software provided by HP again. If you do not have the software, go to www.HP.com and in their "sopport" section enter Scanjet 5370 in the search list.It will give you 3 options, depending on your scnner model. You should probably select the first option 5370c. click on it and it will take you to software downloads. Select the most recent and largest file to download. This will provide the latest software for your 5370. Run the program, restart (reboot) your computer,THEN plug in your USB cord. The computer should tell you that new hardware has been found. Follwo the messages on the screen and (hopefully) your scanner sill woork. The process for Windows 98 and Vista is similr to what I have outlined for Windows XP. Good luck
