Question about Whirlpool LGR3624JQ Gas Dryer

Whirlpool LGR4634EQ3 not heating

My dryer will turn but will not dry cloths. I took off the back of the dryer and cleaned duct work. This did not work. When I turned on the heater I saw a glow and then a flame after about 2 minutes. Then the fire goes out and if I leave it on I smell gas. Is this problem related to the coil or the thermastate.

Thanks, where is the coil set located and how much does it usually cost to replace?

Thanks, I took of the back of the dryer and the housing that covers the tube were the pilot shoots out the fire. Is this were the coil is located or is it through this tube towards the front of the dryer? Only my hand fits through this tube am I in the right location. If not what part of the dryer do I need to disassemble to get the the coil?

Most likely your coil set is bad. is it turns on once, but then doesn't ignite again, your coil set is overheating and not working. it will need to be replaced. Joe

the coil set is located on the gas valve in front of the dryer. they are 2 round blacks coils. the set runs about $30-$40 dollars. Joe

the coils are located in the front of the dryer. if your lint screen is on the top, you will need to remove the screen and the two screws and the top will lift up. after the top is up, there are 2 hex screws ( one on either side on the top of the inside ) that need to be removed. from there you can remove the front and have access to the coils in front. Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Slow to dry

Hi!!

Have you cleaned the filter and the exhaust duct??

Lint plugs therm up, the heat sensor shuts off heating element thinking it is hot enough. Result: Clothes not getting dry.

Unplug duct and clean it, also clean the exahust passage of dryer. (where duct hooks to dryer)

Click below if this was helpful, Good luck.

My dryer is heating up but isn't drying the clothes

I would be REALLY suspicious of the exhaust vent. If the dryer is heating up and the drum is turning, it has to dry the clothes UNLESS there is no air going through the dryer. Disconnect the air outlet flexible plastic duct at the back of the unit, and turn it on. If there is no or very little air coming out, the inside of the unit will be plugged with lint. If there is lots of air coming out, the exhaust duct or the outside flapper will be plugged. Sometimes if the exhaust is routed through a cold space there will be so much condensation in the duct that it will droop and literally fill up with water.

IF YOUR DRYER HEATS AT ALL, BUT WON'T DRY THE CLOTHES, 99 PERCENT OF THE TIME THERE IS A RESTRICTION IN THE AIR FLOW. PULL THE EXHAUST OFF OF THE BACK OF THE DRYER AND DRY ONE LOAD. IF IT DRIES O.K., THERE IS A RESTRICTION IN THE DUCT WORK.
CLEAN OUT THE LINT FROM THE DUCT WORK. IF THE DUCT WORK IS FLEXIBLE MATERIAL, REPLACE IT WITH RIGID 4 INCH METAL DUCT.
