You need to configure your printer for the correct paper size and tray.  --print preferences, used to set the page layout and paper

I am assuming this is a personal home printer. If this is a networked printer, let me know

You can access the properties of local printers by selecting the printer and choosing the Set printer
properties option of the Printer Tasks panel
Under the advanced tab is print processor configuration
Check spooling options and make sure it is in the order you want. You can have it print either during the spooling or after.

Any other questions, let me know

    did you configure the printer?

  • zabrina liang Dec 03, 2008

Actually....make sure you have ink in the toner or ink cartridges. You may need to change them if it is shooting out blanks.

If your ink level is good, reinstall an updated driver for your printer for your operating system (Windows Vista, XP, etc)

Okay, I know what is going on...Try a different type of paper. The paper you are using may not be compatible with your printer. Yep, and HP is very senseitive to that type of thing, unfortunately.

Unplug the unit for about 10 to 15 mins from the power outlet. After that plug it back in and try again. While its unplugged check for any paper inside the rollers. If the unplugging does not work message back with the brand and model of your printer.

Paper will not roll into print positions - brother mfc-j430w

Check the green paper-size end guide inside the paper tray, it may be too far forward. There's a mark for letter-size paper (LTR) and I have my guide set right at the mark even though it seems it ought to be shorter. Be sure your paper is back up against the mark. You might also buy some different paper and see if that's the problem. Sometimes cheap paper will not feed right (I use Staples copy paper in my ink jet and laser printers).

Loud clicking/clacking when paper feeds

Your rollers may be worn and when they are trying to pick up the paper they are not able to . Buy taking your printer to an authorized technician for a maintenance cleaning this should resolve your issue.

Printer will not feed. Using plain paper, as I have for a long time. Turned off printer and tried again, nothing. Makes the feeding noise. Ink is full.

Check and see if a pen or pencil has fallen down into the paper tray. That's what happened to me, and my paper wouldn't feed. The pen had rolled way down inside and was hard to see and hard to get it out of there. I actually found it by feeling around and then I felt something that felt oddly like a pen cap! I could barely see it in there, so check it good.

My printer does not feed the paper right

Check the paper tray rollers inside. See if all of them are rolling when the printer feeds a paper. Also, make sure there is nothing inside the paper tray to cause this issue. Try shaking the printer, if you're still encountering issue. If nothing works, contact manufacturer, if out of warranty, replace the printer. It's more cheaper to replace it than have a technician fix it.

My printer make a lot of noise and will not feed paper from the tray. Can I open the printer and see what has happened?

Yes, but the printer has a few snap-locks that could potentially break and a spring in the back that lifs and lowers the wheels to the paper that is hard to get on if it comes off. That said, I have never had an obstruction that I couldn't pull or shake out. If it is making noise and such you may have a stripped or cracked gear. The amount of labor involved in replacing that probably isn't worth the effort.

How to get my Dell Photo 924 to feed paper for printing?

if you are having issue with the paper feed ,moz-screenshot.jpg try these steps
1. Unplug the power adapter

2.open the printer cover , look for any obstructions inside , lift the printer and shake it firmly

3.turn the printer upside down and gently tab on the base,.

4. Put your Hand inside the Input paper tray and manually roll the two rollers

5. Put back the power adapter , turn on the Printer and try to copy a document from the printer.

Try all these steps and if you still have the paper feed issue then purchase the new printer

Paper will not feed

What you need to do is remove the tray, and look for the feed rollers and clean them with either alcohol or a soapy cleaner like Fantastic.
Clean them a few times, make sure they are dry then try again.
That may solve it completely, or your rollers may be slick and need replaced.
When those rolls get dirty, it's like trying to drive on ice. You just slip. Also, if those rolls are needing replaced, I wouldn't be upset with the refurb work. Sometimes those rolls fake you out. They appear and to touch feel perfectly fine, but try and feed a piece of paper, and it just won't.
If you can, look into the paper tray with a flash light, and see if they are turning. If they are, then dirt or slick rolls is the only problem you have.

Paper feed rolls is rolling over the paper...how to get access to those rolls

  1. Feed the paper manually into the printer:
    1. Place a sheet of plain A4 paper in the paper feed tray.
    2. Move the paper support on the left-hand side to the left end of the paper.
    3. Press the paper feed button.
    4. If the paper does not feed, continue with step 2.
  2. Check for any obstructions in the paper feed path:
    1. Disconnect the cables from the back of the printer.
    2. Open the front of the printer and check for anything that may be blocking the paper path.
    3. Close the front lid and remove any paper from the paper feed tray.
    4. Holding the printer in both hands, turn it upside down to see if anything falls out of the paper feed area. (Sometimes objects such as pens, paper clips and so on can fall into the paper feed area and cause blockages.)

You can clean with special cleaning paper which ca be used clean the rollers............

PAPER JAMS

Does the fault clear when you open/close? If it does you probably don't have a jam.
Does the machine begin to try to make copies, then stop-if so it has probably failed to feed off the tray, hence the jam message. If this is the case, pull out the paper tray, check for obstructions, clean feed rollers and try again. Are there "skid marks on the paper(indicating the rolls have turned?) If so rolls could be dirty/worn. If no skid marks, can you determine if the rolls did in fact turn? Go from there
