F-5 Erro Code on Dometic Convection Microwave DOTRC17SS

I have the Dometic DOTRC17SS convection microwave in my motorhome and I get a F-5 error code whenever I try to use the convection oven. This error occurs about 30 seconds into the preheat phase and once that happens, the oven beeps, displays F-5 and I cannot use the oven until I unplug the unit or reprogram the clock. Using the microwave portion seems to work fine. I randomly get this F-5 when powering on the motorhome - essentially plugging it into ground power. The owners manual has nothing on error codes or troubleshooting for this type of problem. The unit is less than 1 1/2 years old and has worked fine up until now.

I have sent Dometic a email also.
Thanks for any input.

Same problem, our micro in our 1 year old motorhome. Talked to a service center, they suspect the control board but micro has a 3 year warranty for original purchaser. Made an appointment to bring motorhome with micro in for diagnoses.

I would suspect the thermistor / temperature sensor, but getting help on Dometic units can be tough.

Did you contact Dometic through this page?

I have a Dometic DOTRC178 in my motorhome which also does an F-5 whenever I try to use the convection oven, microwave is fine. It always shows an F-5 whenever power is interrupted. I had the same problem with a previous Dometic oven which gave an F-5 and they replace it with the current one which does the same thing.

We have an Dometic DOTRC17B convection/microwave oven in our 2005 Alfa. The first Dometic M/W was replace under warranty for a F-5 code. The replacement oven, same thing F-5. Error code shows up whenever the power is interrupted or try to use the convection portion of the oven. The microwave function is fine. I will pre-heat the oven and it will either fault part way through the pre-heat or during the cooking cycle. I have never been able to cook anything in this oven. I called Dometic and they say "We have never heard of a F-5 error code and can't help you". Yet, I do a Google search, and there are F-5 complaints all over. We have had this oven for 6 yrs and have never been able to properly use it. I just decided today to do a search and see if it something I can fix. Thank goodness the Alfa comes with a regular gas oven, because the Dometic is useless. My only solution may be to replace it with a Non-Dometic unti since Dometic can't help me.

How do I remove a dometic convection oven from my CRV

If you will begin to gently take apart the compartment where the Convection oven is, you will see that it is fastened in mostly by the wood/plastic framework around it.
Usually the cord is a regular one and is plugged in behind the unit. Keep in mind how you will re-attach the framework which holds it in place when you are finished.
God bless your efforts.

Dometic door on convection microwave wont stay closed

Damaged or bent latch/s---unit would have to be taken apart to see if fixable or needs parts replaced.

I would Google the full model number with "parts" to see what is available for this unit.

Microwave plate turner keeps spinning even with door closed and microwave turned off

My microwave is doing this as well; It's a frigidaire model #FGMV154CLFA.

After using the microwave part (it is also convection), the light stays on in the microwave and the turner keeps turning.

And I've only used the convection part of my microwave a couple times and I'm not sure if I was successful. While trying to cook something in convection mode, I pressed convection, then pressed the temp i wanted, then convection, then keyed in the time I wanted the item to cook. The microwave started and the timer started counting down but the countdown stopped with 8 minutes left? I left it alone to see what would happen and it never finished so I restarted the process again.

PS..I've never gotten an error code

What does F2 mean?

The error code F2 on your GE microwave indicates "Shorted thermal sensor", this condition will occur if a shorted thermal sensor is detected continuously over 5 seconds on convection, combination or roast cooking.
. It takes a minimum of 5 minutes of convection run time before this code will be
displayed. More information on this error code, as well as other error codes, can be found at

Best of Luck with your microwave.

Code F6, E0, "Communication Error"

Hi. this code represents a key pad or control board malfunction. you will have to make sure the key pad or control panel connectors are connected tightly and securely. If the wires and connectors are secure, the actual control board may be faulty and you will need to replace it at this point.
