Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Honeywell st699 programmer. Has stopped working...the lights on the control were working, but when I changed the controls to continuous, everything went dead. Any ideas as to how to repair this?

It could be that something further down the control chain is at fault - hence producing this effect.

Control chain is 1. Control clock 2. thermostat (room/water) 3. valve. Need to id which/where fault lies.

Try repeating your action on the c/h only but with the room stat at min setting. Do you get the problem..?? If no then suspect room stat or valve. If yes then suspect control clk - replace.

Suggest getting heating eng to resolve.

Replacing an ST699 with a ST9400C following repl wiring diagram, but programmer does not come on. Is the diagram incorrect? Wiring colours do not follow any of the plans. Syst has room stat, cyl stat,...

Disregard wire colors. Instead wire by terminal designation. In other words :
Wire on "R" Terminal on old thermostat to "R" Terminal on new thermostat no matter the color.

The model of T-stat you gave comes up as a discontinued model on Honeywell's web site, but it looks to be a manual stat that type of stat would have to be wired with a summer winter switch with electric heat, allowing it to turn on the fan with a call for heat. If yours is a programmable T-stat you would need to select electric heat or in the installers set up change the default setting for fan from unit controls fan in heat to thermostat controls fan.
