I like to Restore System To Factory Default I have lost my Password to Empowering Technology for Acer Aspire M1610

The most common way that most of us know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing a battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computerthe location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password

From the Windows Start-up menu, highlight Safe Mode and press Enter. Wait for your desktop to appear, and then make the necessary repairs (for example, uninstall programs or devices). When the repairs are done, restart the computer, and allow it to boot normally.

Alternate:

From the Windows Start menu, click Run. In the Open field, type MSCONFIG and click Ok. On the BOOT.INI tab, check /SAFEBOOT. Click Restart when prompted. Somewhere on the board is a small button cell (a battery). Remove it carefully and leav it out for about 5 minutes then refit it (make sure you refit it the correct way around or you WILL damage the board). This will erase the bios settings. When you first reboot, it should rewrite the bios settings for you and boot as normal. Sometimes this can happen where the bios has a damaged code precursur which defaults to a password, resetting the bios will clear this.

Check your manual that who is the BIOS manufecturer. Usually ther BIOSes are widely used in IBM Compatible Systems. Phoenix, Award and AMI. Then visit any forum which deals with BIOS. From there you can find the master password which may work. Otherwise you have to clear the CMOS Settings to recover password. (ehteshamhusain@gmail.com)

Break bios password in acer 2420 travelmate laptop

remove the cover which has your power button and covers the LCD cables. Remove the keyboard and flip it over, being careful to not pull too hard on the cable. There's 2 small triangular silver connection pads beside the keyboard connector on the main board - connect them together and power on your computer (flat screwdriver works fine). Press the f2 key - you'll find it doesn't prompt you for a password. You can lift off the connections now. Go to exit and save changes, and you're password free.

Bios reset

As another option you could try resetting the jumper. Some boards save the password regardless unless the reset the BIOS by using the resetting jumper. Refer to the motherboard's manual for further information on how to do this.
