- Thank you. The player boots and plays OK. Window XP just does not see it so there is no way to load new songs and delate old ones.

- My USB 2.0 ports and cables work fine. I can connect other devices to my PC with no problem - WD passport, Toshilba Gigabeat, Song MP3, Canon Cameras etc.
H340 should show as a removable disk drive. Ensure it is formatted as Fat32, run chkdsk, or scandisk. Does the H340 boot into play mode? you did not say. I replaced my battery with no problems... so if it boots Ok it is a non-related fault.

- OK... Thinking.... have you checked your USB 2.0 host controller driver in windows XP for correct functioning? via control panel.... also, if you connect another usb 2.0 device to your PC ... does windows see it...?

where can i get a replacement screen for an iriver h340. i dropped my unit and the screen has gone off. you can faintly see it in strong light so i think it's just the backlight is broken but that seems to be integral to the screen.

I start my iRiver H340 player and press the A-B button, which gives me a list of the current playlists. Apart from the playlists I have put on there, there are many others, at least one for every subfolder on the machine. None of these other playlists work. If you press the folder name, it starts to try and read it and then says something along the lines of, "Read Failed!" It returns you to the first screen and one of my lists will work. However, scrolling through all of these bad playlists is not only time consuming, it seems unnecessary. The first thing I did was to do a search for the phantom filenames on the drive. But I couldn't find them. Also, they do not show up in the default "Playlists" folder. Only my working playlists are there. Help! How do I delete the phantom lists?
