Thank you. The player boots and plays OK. Window XP just does not see it so there is no way to load new songs and delate old ones.

My USB 2.0 ports and cables work fine. I can connect other devices to my PC with no problem - WD passport, Toshilba Gigabeat, Song MP3, Canon Cameras etc.

H340 should show as a removable disk drive. Ensure it is formatted as Fat32, run chkdsk, or scandisk. Does the H340 boot into play mode? you did not say. I replaced my battery with no problems... so if it boots Ok it is a non-related fault.

OK... Thinking.... have you checked your USB 2.0 host controller driver in windows XP for correct functioning? via control panel.... also, if you connect another usb 2.0 device to your PC ... does windows see it...?

If your computer does not recognize the USB device, first try method 1 to work around this issue. Method 1: Initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager To initiate recognition of the USB device by using Device Manager, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens. Click to select your computer as the location for the scan. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes. Windows XP recognizes the new device. Close the Device Manager window. If this method resolves the issue, you are finished. If this method does not resolve the issue, go to method 2. Method 2: Disable power management of the USB hub Note If you perform the following procedure, you may also reduce the battery life on a portable computer. Use this method if method 1 does not work. To disable power management of the USB hub, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. The Device Manager window opens. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Right-click a USB Root Hub in the list, and then click Properties. The USB Root Hub Properties dialog box is displayed. Click the Power Management tab. Click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click OK. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each USB Root Hub in the list. On the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes. Windows XP recognizes the new device. Close the Device Manager window. If this method does not resolve the issue, go to method 3. Method 3: Restart the computer To initiate recognition of the USB device, first unplug the USB device and restart the computer. Then, wait five to ten seconds before you plug the USB device into the computer or hub. Windows XP recognizes the new device. My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

My xp computer cannot detect my canon camera

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My h340 will hang up after playing about 20 seconds and will not be recognized on my computer. I use the reset button but it hangs up again. Any ideas?

I read a suggestion to connect it to the computer via the media port first, then to the data port. That fixed my problems.

Iriver H340 - new battery charges, but does not work...

Hi, I had the same problem with my H340. I bought a battery for $16 on eBay and swapped them out. The unit would say "Charging" but would never "Complete". When disconnected from the AC, it would not power up at all. I opened it up again and noticed that the old battery connections had the red wire on the left, the battery had the red wire on the right. I took the black and red wires out of the quick-connect jack and swapped them so that the red wire would no go into the player on the left. Works like a charm now.

Horizontal lightning blot = OK = the battery is already fully charged

Vertical lightning blot = enough power for charging not getting to player - your USB port may be less than 2.0, or may be malfunctioning for some reason - try a different uSB port first - if still the same result, go into the Device Manager and make sure there is not a yellow exclamation mark by the USB port.

Use the wall charger if it will no longer charge via USB.
