Connect ipod to laptop / PC...do it show up on laptop /PC (my computer)?...yes..do itunes also show up? yes..on itunes you can reset the ipod...if this do not work...close out itunes...go to my computer open the ipod you should see 4-5 folders (click on tools/folder option/view and check show hidden item...now copy all the folders from the ipod and paste into a temp folder on the PC...now go to my computer click on ipod right click and format (yes this will delete every thing on the ipod) itunes have all your songs right? say yes if not put all song onto itune before you continue...now once you format the ipod remember you had copy those folders into a temp folder now reinstall back onto ipod from PC...open itunes sync your music back on to ipod..unplug and plug in your head set...lets do this good as new right...

The ring is not touch sensitive, you must press down on the buttons.

Restore factory settings, if the buttons dont work. This will clear your ipod of all songs.

To revert your ipod to factory settings, go to preferences in itunes. Then go to your device and look for restore factory settings

Apple on screen doesent turn on

I would hold the menu and center button at the same time until you get an error from itunes that the recovery software is downloading

then restore the ipod

if this dose not work it is probably a hard ware issue and you need to get the ipod repaired

The unit is being manually managed. You need to un-check "Manually Manage". See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351

My screen touch wont enter the code i havent forgot da code but when i press it da number turns blue but doesent enter da box

Hi there,

Try connecting the ipod to itunes, and setting restore. This will erase the code on the ipod touch. The ipod will allow this to happen with the last computer to sync to it.

Also make sure you have the latest itunes version installed. www.apple.com/itunes

and also that you have the latest ipod firmware. This can be done by selecting "check for update" from the ipod page in itunes.

Hope this helps,

Nathan.

Ipod Nano 1GB

Did you try charging it with the USB cord or do you have an adapter that plugs into the wall? If you tried with the USB cord, how long did you let it charge?

There are a variety of things that could be wrong. If the Ipod sat for a long time the battery could be completely discharged. I've not had this problem on the Nano, but on an old Ipod Mini my daugher has I've noticed that sometimes I need to plug it in with a wall adapter to get the battery charged enough to start up quickly.

Forgive me for asking this next question...lots of times I ask these basic question and people get mad, but the key lock is off, right? On my Nano there's a small slider switch on the top. In one position the controls are all locked. Please verify that you've got it set to the right position. Mine is locked when I can see the red dot.

Assuming the battery is not totally shot and the key lock is off, it's also possible that it's just "locked up". To reset the Nano press and hold both Menu and Select (center button) for about 5 or 10 seconds. If the Ipod is alive this will reset it.

From your post, I'm not sure if you mean the Ipod was sitting for a long time without being used. If that's the case and it used to work, and it has not gotten wet or anything, then the most likely problem is a bad battery. There are services on the web you can find who will replace the battery for a fee. If, on the other hand, it just suddenly stopped working and the reset does not help you may have a more serious problem. Unfortunately there's no way to tell.

Now for the editorial section. I don't get paid for this. I know it's a strange hobby, but I lke to help when I can. The reason lots of people won't respond to questions like yours is because there's a real chance that your Ipod battery is dead or the unit is just plain broken. So they offer some suggestions which, obviously, won't work and then they get a bad rating. Even if my suggestions don't fix you problem I hope you'll find them useful in deciding if the Ipod is just plain dead. If you have more questions please ask. Thanks and good luck.
