I have a toshiba 32 inch crt tv
model cz32t31
the righ5t and left screen is bowed inwards
looks like an hour glass
can i adjust this in service menu and if so how do i get in service menu
thank you very much
Sounds like a bad capacitor in the deflection circuit or a leaky diode which is causing the problem. Adjusting wont help.
the most easiest would be simply look fr capacitors that lok swelled and or leaking. Without a ESR meter theres no way to test them, but often they swell especially on the top when they are defective
The capacitor should be near the HV generator ( Flyback) Diodes are blck with a silver band on one end looki like a resistor. Diodes and capacitors are very inexspensive if you can find which one is defective.Be careful around the HV section cause even after a set has been unplugged for a while the capacitors can still shock you if youre not careful around them

if this can not be adjusted like you said in service menu
can you direct me in what to test or what to look for in trying to repair this or should i just toss the tv away
thanks
do you know what areas to look for this on the board for this tv?? and also what percent chance do you think it is a bad capcitor or diode i mean is this a common problem?
and what is a diode and what does it look like i know what a capacitor looks like
this is a toshiba made in 2000 32 inch
if it is a capacitor is it an inexpensive reapir for me to do i can solder......
thank you
one last question i have always wondered ....is it ok to store a crt or projection tv in the garage during the winter when it goes near zero degrees
i mean is there anything that the cold can damage or not really
thanks
when you say leaky diode what am i looking for...actual liquid??? color??
and if you had to guess would it more likely be a bad capacitor or leaky diode or 50/50
thanks
hi i opened the back of the tv and looked for any swelled capacitors
around the HV didnt find any........how do i know a diode is bad or
leaking??
and also do you know exact locations of these diodes/capacitors for the picture bowing in on the left and right side??
thanks
how do i test a bad diode
the capacitors do not look swelled at all
none of the capacitoes are swelled..........whats else can i check?
how do i check for leaky diode????
