No TV/SAT sound with my Pioneer VSX-D908TX

My kid put a movie that was intended for my pc into the DVD player connected to the Pioneer amplifier. Now my TV/SAT doesn't have any sound. And the DVD only has sound if I completely turn everything off and then power up with the DVD on. Ditto for the VCR; I have to turn everything completely off and then power up with the VCR on in order to have sound from a tape. But the TV/SAT doesn't have any sound at all. What has this kid done!!!!!

Please and download the owners manual and refer to page number 20 and 21 and set the signal in the unit :

That is probably only a setting problem, remove any disk from the inside and try unplugging the unit for ten minutes from TV and power, this will reset the device.

Try first unplugging the unit power cord for a while, so to reset it.

If that does not work, verify that there is no cd inside.

If you have sound on the VCR, and the fixes above do not work, then some internal part had been damaged, probably the lens.

I have never seen anything like that happening just because of inserting the wrong CD.

Try unplugging , if it still does not work it may have been a cincidence, and a fault occured at teh same time while the kid was playing with the DVD.

How do I hook up a Pioneer VSX-918V receiver to Sat.Dish box?

For the audio portion, you must have either a digital coax, optical connection or analog L/R composite RCA jacks plugged into the "Sat.audio in" on the rear panel of the chassis. The other end of THAT connection must come from the "audio out/ variable out" from the T.V. or from the Sat.Dish box.

Are you sure the correct input is selected on BOTH the TV AND the A/V receiver?

Does the subwoofer work on other inputs? If not, is the subwoofer connected correctly? If so, is the input connected correctly?

I have a Pioneer VSX-D308 reciever and I have... no idea how to hook it up to my big TV (bought receiver used). Do I need the red/white cords? Do I need other cables? HELP! Wanting to hook up to big...

What your unidentified TV >>requires<< is the BEST Video from every video source. That would be the DVD, SAT Box. It probably has multiple high-end video inputs, right?

What your receiver needs is at least a basic composite video connection to the TV so you can set it up and manage it.

A web search for "Pioneer VSX-D308 manual" will find the manual.

ALL of the BEST Audio should go directly to the Pioneer. That includes the SAT and DVD player.

Your TV can exist just fine with basic audio from the video sources. And you could still watch it/them without the Pioneer turned of if you want.

I can't find the exact manual for free anywhere but if you download something similar like http://www.retrevo.com/support/Pioneer-VSX-D409-Receivers-manual/id/385ci977/t/2/ it should give you the basic guidance you need.

I recommend

Do some web searching for what the cables are for. It's all basic and standard.

My power went out while watching TV. Now there is no sound when I turn my receiver to TV/SAT. If I put the receiver on CD there is sound but no picture. The receiver works fine if I go to DVD; there is...

It would seem the TV/SAT source is where the problem lies. No picture with CD? Really?

How about bypassing the receiver to prove what is failing?

No TV sound, only DVD and CD players

Check your tv settings may need to change from speaker out to line out.

Check the tv input on the receiver, put the cd or dvd cables into the tv input. If you get audio the receiver is fine. No audio check the receiver settings.

No Sound on TV/SAT setting on Receiver.

Most TV has Audio Out RCA jack at rear and it gives same TV Sound as coming from its speakers.
Hook audio wire red white RCA pins at TV Out and plug these pins to TV/SAT input of receiver. Select TV/SAT input in receiver to get TV program sound coming out from TV.
Hope that info will help you.

No DTS sound / RESET

Hi I have a Pioneer VSX D908S which is basically the same amplifier as yours with the difference that the one I have has no THX certification, as a matter of fact the service manual is the same, and mine has the same problem. The prblem is located in the DSP board, if you are able to remove the bonett, you will see on the right side a metal cover, remove it, once you have removed it, look for a IC9374 it is located, -looking this board in front to you- almost at the left upper corner, this IC has the PDK042A on it, with a soldering iron resolder this circuit. This is common problem with this pioneer amplifiers, and this procedure not always works, the final solution is to buy the DSP board but it is expensive. Good luck! Miguel
