SOURCE: 6 cd-player (PD-J910M) cannot read any CD. It just

time to clean the lens. any electronics store will sell a cd lens cleaner. if after that it won't read, you need to take the cover off and gently clean the lens with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. blow it off to dry. if it still won't read, you'll need to replace the optical pickup assembly.

My sony dvp-fx820 will play cds fine , but not dvds thought it would be the laser pickup but,,, does anyone know ? before i wast my money what else it may be? thanks TB

You are correct. The Optical Pickup(laser) is most likely worn out. I'm going to take a stab at it and say you most likely play DVDs most of the time. The pickup actually has two lasers in one casing, a DVD and CD(the two use a different wavelength light, which is why you need two lasers). Which ever type of disc you play the most, that laser will wear out the fastest. All said, you will most likely need a new pickup.

4.1.4 Tech Mode

In service (tech) mode, the technician can check the machine and perform various test to isolate the cause of

a malfunction. While in Tech mode, the machine still performs all normal operations.

To enter the Tech Mode

To enter the Tech Mode, press "Menu + Back + Left + Right + OK + Stop + Menu" in sequence, and the

LCD briefly displays 'Tech Mode', the machine has entered service tech mode.

After entering the tech mode, select the item you want by using a button on control panel.
Scroll to Pickup roller.
I cannot see what comes up on the screen after this but I imagine it will ask if you wan to reset this counter. Press ok and that should do it. You may need to power down but I don't know.

Good luck.
I cannot see what it says on the lcd after this but I imagine

Showing NO DISC while on DVD mode why this

I'm assuming it plays CDs? If it reads NO DISC, in the DVD mode, the laser that reads the DVD is no longer able to read the TOC, Table of Contents. Generally, that means the laser(Optical Pickup) needs to be replaced. For more information, please visit my website at Thank you.

I need to replace my Philips FW V355 cd lense but i dont know the lense no

Normally the number of the laser pickup unit will be on it, either printed or by sticker. Just look on its side or bottom. If you are going to buy the laser pickup unit, with the old one as sample, there will be no problem. The sales man can detect it and will give you the exact one. if you are intented to buy this unit from the authorised service center for Philips, just give them the exact model number of the set. It is enough for them. OK.

My sony dvd player working cd only dvd disc not wrking i change mew lense but same problem plese help me

I don't know whether you have replaced the sony laser pickup unit with same type and number. It is very important to note that, Sony DVDs have special type of lase picku units, and an other type won't go with them. Just replace the strip wire that goes to main board from the laser pickup unit too, when replacing the laser unit. In some models, this strip wire is already attached to the laser unit, if your DVD has such type, the problem now you faces is due to mismatch of the laser pickup unit itself. OK.

Dvd player freezes then stays in lead mode. I cleaned discs and tried other discs no good

The laser pickup is defective, overtime the laser becomes weaker until tracking is no longer possible, it is far cheaper to replace the machine than to repair it (the whole assembly needs replacement)

When you put the dvd in the slot in says loading and then makes a clicking noise and won't load. this is a combo tv and dvd player

The cliking noise is the laser pickup trying to focus on the disk, you either need to clean the laser pickup, or replace it. If it is out of warranty replacing the laser pickup is usually cost prohibitive. Department stores will sell laser pickup cleaners, it is a disk with little brushes attached to the bottom, try this first, if this does not fix it you can try to clean the lenz with a Q-tip and some windex on the Q-tip, but this usaly requires dis assembly of the tv to get to the laser pickup.
