Thermal fuse keeps blowing

I have a Kenmore dishwasher model 665. The thermal fuse 675813 keeps blowing. I have replaced the pigatils off the board that are supplied with the fuse kit. I was told by a Sears auth. service rep to keep the door filter clear. I do that with every cycle. Any suggestions short of burning this thing and throwing it off a cliff?

Mine is doing the same thing. Ordered fuse and replaced once, now (about a month of steady use later) it has blown again. Got a piece of wire stuck in there now. When a fuse keeps blowing, something is drawing too much current. Does anyone know what this fuse protects? Wondering if it's gonna catch fire without fuse protection.

I have a Whirlpool dishwasher and the thermal fuse keeps blowing. This is my third fuse in 2 months. Does anyone know what to do to solve the problem. It is Model DU943.

    Any help is appreciated.

this is a thermal fuse measuring the temperature in the control box compartment. Replace the fan motor.

Mr. Larry (guru?)
The thermal fuse is just that It doesn't protect the circuit from over current although it certainly can open in that case. It is there to protect the board from overheating , thus the term thermal. The dishwasher could be allowing the water to heat too hot or the water heater in the home is turned up too much. The heater could also be shorted to case thus allowing it to be on even though the control is not calling for it especially if the polarity is incorrect to the dishwasher or the relay on the board could be welded closed so that the heater can't turn off even though the thermostat is satisfied. The best thing is to get a person who can check these things. You don't necessarily need to change the board with a fuse. I have changed many fuses with no other problems and verified that the machine was still working years later. sometimes the fuse just blows!

Kenmore thermal fuse keeps blowing and im getting a white powdery film

If the thermal fuse blows it is a direct result of heat. The most common place for the heat to be generated is the wire connections to the fuse, the wire connections on the main control board and the door switch.

The thermal fuse comes with a small wire kit, be sure you or the technician used that wire kit if not you will continue to have trouble. If you have then look the board over closely, especially the black plastic plugs, if you see any dark spots or loose connections make sure to tighten them up. Then check the wires to the door switches make sure they are tight connections. If all these are okay then check the gasket on the left side that surrounds the vent, if heat escapes this gasket it can migrate over toward that thermal fuse.

I hope this helps

Sears model 665 ultra dishwasher has no power, breaker not blown but nothing works,no lights nothing

There is a thermal fuse located in the control panel that is probably blown out.
Open the control panel by removing the 6 screws around the top inside of the door. The thermal fuse is located on the top right side. Remove the wires from the fuse. Use a volt neter set for continuity to test the fuse. No reading is a bad fuse.
This link will show the fuse.

No power suddenly on the control panel... kenmore elite model 665-1374/665-1384 Worked one day and not the next. Breaker is on, no blockage at water line... connections all tight. It's only 14 months old!

Kenmore dishwashers should be recalled!! Their poorly designed computer circuit boards are all malfunctioning around 15 months. Look on the inside top of your door. Do you see a instructions? There should be some about your Heat Dry button and holding it down for 4 seconds to reset your computer board. Read and try it first. It's like rebooting a computer.

I have a kenmore elite dishwasher model#665. no power

Nearly all Kenmore dishwashers have a thermal fuse inside the operator console. If the fuse blows, it will exhibit the symptoms you describe. If you post back with a COMPLETE model number (located around the tub opening with the door open), I can verify, provide you with a part number, and explain to steps required to replace it.

NOTE: "665" is the manufacturer code, which identifies the manufacturer of your dishwasher as Whirlpool.

Kenmore dishwasher 665.1603 no power stopped in middle of cycle and has no power.

That dishwasher has a thermal fuse that clips on the control board. The thermal fuse is a safety device, and nothing will run if it is blown. If there is no continuity through it, replace it. They run around $20-$30. If thats not it, remove the kick-plate and check the junction box for loose or fried wires where the wires are spliced together. Also check your house breaker box to make sure the breaker isn't tripped.

I have model number KUD 101TJBL0. I have spent about 300.00 on repairs. It keeps blowing the thermal fuse. I have had it replaced sev. times. My repair man has given up on solving the problem. I did read...

Hi,

This applies mainly to Kenmore Dishwashers with the model number 665.15835791 but also to any Whirlpool or Kenmore dishwasher with an electronic display. There are several possible trouble makers on this dishwasher that can cause this problem and we'll go through the most common ones.

1.Bad Door Latch Switches.

There 2 switches you can buy them from online vendors.

2. Blown Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse is located in the control panel, called out as item #18 in this picture. You can check it with a simple continuity test. Or you can jumper it out to see if the dishwasher will start running normally. If it's bad,

3.Control board problems can stem from **** and noise in the dishwasher's electrical supply which make the electronics on the control board go flakey. This problem has been documented by Whirlpool in a tech memo (if your Kenmore model number begins with 665 then, yes, Whirlpool made your dishwasher). Or, it could just be a bad control board, plain n' simple.

The above one is a generic solution, also applicable for Kitchenaid Dishwashers.

If it acts like theres no power to the dishwasher, and youve checked the breaker or outlet and there is power to the washer then the thermal fuse is blown. Part3376359 has been replaced by 675813.At sears it cost about $12.00 and you get instuctions to replace.I just did mine and now it works. And not realy that hard to do

Where is the thermal fuse for Kenmore 665 11073342 dishwasher?

The thermal fuse is located in the front control panel where the circuit board is. You need to remove 4 screws(depending on the type of dishwasher you have) and you will see it. Make sure you change everything not just the fuse but the new wires also.

Hope this fixes your problem
