Question about Pioneer AVIC-N1 Car DVD Player

Hello: My avic-n1 screen is black and won't show anything. I can hear the radio, but, can't view the screen. How do you set the time of day?

Your ribbon cable is probably broken. Pioneer replace it for free the first time. Contact them to make arrangment for service. There are people who fix them on Ebay for about $85. If you choose Ebay, go with Same Day Audio Service. He is very reliable. Goodluck.

it sounds like the flexible cable that goes from the main board to the monitor might be bad.

The screen went black, nothing on it at all


Check the fuse on back of radio and then your factory automotive fuses. If the screen is black, BUT you're getting audio then it just means the ribbon cable ripped which is common on motorized radios such as this one.

Mute function on Pioneer AVIC-N1


You have to isolate yellow-black cabel. This cabel was in contact with earth and it was the reason, why you have Mute on the display.

Display not working


just got a tech bulletin from pioneer in my bulk mail(almost trashed it). they said its a recall on all avicn1 and 2's. the ribbon wire going from unit to screen fails after many cycles. they are issuing free repair.

Power comes on but nothing works even monitor


It's probably your ribbon cable is broken. Pioneer replace it for free the 1st time. Contact them to send it in for service. It is a common issue for the Avic N series. If it is out of warranty then the guy on Ebay will fix it for you for around $100. Try SAME DAY AUDIO SERVICE, his name is Rick and he is very reliable. Goodluck.

Main Screen is blank, everything works otherwise

Static from radio only sometimes,Act's like a loose connection. You can thump on dash it stops. But it will come back. I have heard pioneer has had a recall on this anybody know about it. Oh it does not have a loose connection we have double and triple checked.

yeah i Just bought one used and the ame thing happned. Turned out pioneer put a recall about the flex cable and they offer a free flex cable upgrade if you send it in to them.
