Question about Epson CX3810 Stylus Color All-In-One Printer
This sounds possibly like a page size problem. Here is the link to all the driver/manual/troubleshooting for your model; http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Overview&oid=60421&prodoid=56291069 try pressing either the "fit to page" or the "a4/letter" button and see if you get any change. Also if you often turn this printer off using an external switch (like a power strip switch) or if you often have power blackouts, there is a possible fault caused with the ink cartridges that may be the problem, the solution being to replace the cartridges - this doesn't sound like the problem unless you get the same when you print. Only other thought is that you may be placing the document to copy in the wrong corner of the scanning plate. The top left as you look at it should be correct, but just check putting a document in all the corners and see what you get. If none of this helps, then I suspect that the data cable linking the scanning carriage to the rest of the machine has a loose coneection or similar that is disconnected when the carriage moves past a particular point on its route. If you fancy trying to repair this yourself, it may not be too difficult, but the issue would probably be best solved by an authorised repair centre. follow the link above for details; Hope this helps :)

First you need to determine if it's doing from both the top and the glass.
1-assuming you are using the feeder to fax, copy or scan (the part that automatically picks up the paper) it comes out with a streak. Make a copy putting the paper on the glass and look at the copy. Does it have the streak?
2-lift the top and look to the left there should be a small 1inch glass, this is where it makes the copies from the feeder, is there a dot or white out or is the glass dirty? that's your streak, the paper is moving to make the copy,so the dot now looks like a line as opposed to making a copy on the glass it just sits there so a dot will stay a dot.
2- Clean with water or alcohol.
