Question about Toshiba Satellite Computers & Internet
I got the laptop up and running with the battery. First I took the memory out again and put it back in. Finally the toshiba cpr came on. Later a warning popped up saying to plug in the adapter "battery low". But when I plugged the power cord in the power light is orange instead of green. Is my adapter bad? Could this be causing my start up problems?
This is HP forum(not real, fixya+HP)i moved YAH.
your pc is toshiba, why post to HP?>
Toshiba Satellite L30/L35 Series!
NO OS stated, XP?
the battery is bad, some fail in 2 years old , abused, (ask)
run now on AC power only
does run ok now?
Learn 2 things about LT
batteries love to fail, remove it.
and it runs on AC all day long for ever.
do so and report problems to Toshiba forum the enemy of HP.
what is CPR?
"depend on CPR for professional Toshiba computer repair services!"
if it runs bad on AC power tell the helper it fails on AC battery removed
then tell helper what OS (XP windows or what)?
then tell of windows login fails, no screens?
or if black screen of deathh
or blue screens of deathh. BSOD's
that would be a great start.(no pun)

The orange light means the battery is low.
Normally the clicking is the hdd trying to find its files and it will crash from time to time if faulty.
Replace the hdd.

Sounds like the power jack has a short and needs to be replaced. If it melted the ac adapter tip then its a ground problem in the power jack or where it connects to the mother board.

I had the same problem on my CQ60. HP battery test showed one or more cells not working. After spending about 2 hours talking to some guy in India,or somewhere, he came to the conclusion that my battery was bad. HP sent me a new battery, which fixed the problem.
