I owned this same TV and this problem, it turned out to be a part called the convergence module, also a problem with the main circuit board, the parts alone where $600, then labor would have been even more, I bought a new LCD TV and been happy ever since, new TV cost little more than fixing the Tosiba, which by the way has a very poor service record, check out this on the net.

Hi You have the TV connected to the cable box with an HDMI cable, I'll bet. The problem is with the cable box. If you unplug the cable box and plug it back it it will reboot and proabably work. You should connect the cable box to the TV using component cables and you won't have this problem again.

    or
This is a problem with closed-captioning. What you are seeing is a closed captioning box with no captioning in it. Usually this is being accidentally transmitted by the cable company "head end". Just make sure your closed captioning function is completely turned off. if you are seeing it randomly, it may well be coming from your cable company. Is it just on certain channels?

This type of failure is due to a defective hyper board. This type of repair might not be a DIY without a basic knowledge of electronics and know how to use a de-soldering/soldering iron.

Does it do this on all the inputs? You will want to try different inputs and different cables, Even different jacks for example if your using composite try component or vice versa. If you need further assistance please let me know. Once I have more information I will be able to better assist you. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.

Have you tried something else besides the dvd player? Like cable box or something else? It could be the dvd player if that is all you have tried. If problem persists you will need professional service.

Cant get tension correct when zig zag on really strechy material

Be sure you are using a ball-point needle. Try setting the upper tension looser. You also may need to increase the presser foot pressure on your machine (consult your owner's manual if you don't know how to do this). Using a closed-toe presser foot (vs an open-toe embroidery foot) may help control the fabric and prevent it from puckering under the needle. Also, reducing the width of the zig-zag may be helpful.

Some sewing machines have an overlock presser foot. Effectively, there is a thin piece of metal in the center of the presser foot. The needle will straddle that piece of metal in a zig-zag so the upper thread has a little bit of slack in each stitch that will let the fabric lie flat. It is a very nice tool to have especially when zig-zag finishing raw edges too.

C9store overlock presser foot how to video

Some sewists will increase the fabric's "body" by inserting a layer of wash-away or tear-away stabilizer. If it is only a small project, a piece of paper added to the seam (like adding machine paper) will help stabilize the fabric.

One last thing to try would be loosening the bobbin tension. However, there is a reason it is the last effort, because most sewists are uncertain about messing with the bobbin and it is also requires "minute" adjustments to effect a big change.

How do I get it to zig zag

There is a dial or a lever that you turn it to. It usually has a straight line picture for straight stitch and a zig zag photo for the zig zag stitch.

I have a Tacsew T20U73-1 straight stitch/ zig-zag machine and I am wondering how I go about making my machine go from zig-zag to straight stitch?

There has got to be a selector of some kind on the machine. Usually it will be marked with symbols indicating straight or zig-zag stitch. You may also try varying the width of the stitch. The wider the stitch, the more pronounced the zig-zag effect.

We cannot get sound through the yamaha amplifier while watching a dvd? TV and Foxtel works but we only get sound from the tv when we are watching a dvd. we have a Sony Bravia TV and a Yamaha HTR6130...

You need to connect the unnamed DVD player's audio to the receiver according to the player's manual and then assign the digital input on the HTR (if applicable). THAT would be in the HTR's manual (page 6).

I'd run the DVD's best video straight to the TV. Nothing good comes from having unnecessary cabling or interconnects zig-zagging across the room.

Distorted picture

when you say distorded, is it like a 3-d effect? or more of zig zag type lines in the picture. If there are color outlines like a 3-d effect, then you are having a convergence preakdown, and are going to need to have the convergence IC's replaced. if the problem is the piture is zagged edges and zig zag, lines or a smearing effect, most likly it is the PIP modle is going bad, and even if you dont use the PIP, the video still goes through that module. If it does not have a PIP feature, then there are bad capacitors in the sweep power supply and the problem will get progessivly worse till the set wont come on anymore. Hope this helps. Good Luck
