Inspiron 6000 laptop. lost my sound today were is the sound card

I turn on my PC, heard some gurgling sounds, for about 2 minutes while booting.. it took an extra long time to boot too. after it booted up it was running sluggish do i did a reboot on it...

it came back up.. no sound from speakers no sounf from ear phone jacks..

did a restore.. still no good.

looked at my driver notice that my sound card was not their, got my driver disk and tried to reinstal my audio drive (sigmatel) says it cannot find object.

i think the sound card (chip) must of died... so i would like to know were hopfully a photo of where the sound/audio card is located..
maybe i can replace the chip..

Well replacing the motherboard will cost about $150 plus it is not an easy project either...

Unkess you have a micro soder and tiny fingers, you most likely wont be able to replace the chip. You would end up causing more damage and wasting money. If you can even find the chip anywhere.

The onboard audii is definately shot and i would spend the money on a whole new Mainboard and changing it out alltogether as the mainboard is most likely going to eventualy give out.

I would ebay a used or junked one that has a Mobo in it that is still good, ( good luck though ) and changing it out.

Now a days, you could just get a new accer at a decent price.

Sounds like a definite no boot issue. Turn the system on to the diagnostics (Fn + Power) see if the diagnostics show a failure. If the hard drive passes diagnostics, then boot to the XP CD and try repairing the WIndows installtion

Your PC is not completing bootup. It's not the display, it's Windows.

Try booting to Safe Mode (F8) and running System Restore to a time before the issue cropped up. That should get the PC running again.
