I have an Olympus Camedia

I have an Olympus Camedia digital camera C-4000 Zoom.

It has been a good camera but lately is taking forever between shots. I turn it to the green arrow and can get an image quickly, but turning it to the P to take a picture nothing happens. We can fiddle with it back and forth and sometimes can get a picture. Actually, right now, I turned it off and it took a long time for the image from the review screen to disappear. Then I turned it to P again -- nothing happened. Turning it to the review again I get an image of a picture taken and can move it back or forward to see other pictures.

My husband has checked the batteries and the terminal. New batteries were put in.
