Question about Archos PMA 400 (30 GB) Digital Media Player
I've already sent this unit back to Archos once and it is still not fixed. For some reason when you put the unit in standby mode for more than..... say 20 minutes upon restarting it does a full reboot and resets the time and date back to the original aimage.img creation date. Archos assumed it was the watch battery that powers the CMOS so they replaced that. After receiving the unit back from Archos it seemed to work fine for 1 day until I synced it with my XP computer to sync Qtopia desktop calendar. The same problem started again. I've tried both OS 1.12 (that is was reset to) as well as updating to OS 1.14. Same results. Possible short in the circuit board between the watch battery and the CMOS??? Please help.
Greetings, I had the same problem. Also sent the unit back to ARCHOS. In fact, I read on a board somewhere that there is no CMOS battery, and this is why the problem occurrs. The following web site offers a workaround: http://www.pointlisse.com/PMA430/index.cfm?articleID=54 Great product-- but incredibly irritating the extent to which they do not come clean about problems iwth the product.
