HI 1. On the remote control, press and hold the appropriate mode key until the four mode keys flash twice. The mode key will continue to flash.

2. Enter the three-digit code.

After you press the first digit, the mode key should light and stay on. After you press the last digit, the mode key should flash three times and turn off.

If the mode key does not flash three times before turning off, the code is invalid for this device type. Repeat the procedure with another device code.

3. Point the remote at the device and press the POWER key. If the device turns on or off, you have finished programming.

If you have tried all the codes listed for the manufacturer and the device does not respond, refer to Finding the Correct Device Code later in this guide.http://www.anvari.org/cols/Useful_Users_Manuals/200C_Remote_Control.html

4. Write the codes below:

Set-top device code

TV code

VCR Code

5. Note that in the TV and VCR modes, the PAUSE, PLAY, REW, REC, and FF keys control your VCR. To record a program, while holding down REC,_ press PLAY. This prevents accidental recording.

Check the controller Battery try another one...

most problems about controllers are dust inside button contacts...you should open and clean it with alcohol ....

Or sometimes when the controller fall in the ground..the sensor brakes...try to resolder the infra-Led...Good Luck

On the remote control is there a choice to select TV, or Cable Box? Make sure the remote is on TV and the remote is programmed for the code of the specific brand of TV.

Unplug the power cable and video and antenna cable from set top box, wait five minutes, and connect everything back.

Test a different antenna, if there is a short in the aerial cable that is the cause for malfunction.

If this does not clear the error, replace the set top box.

You may be suffering the amber light of death ALOD, but you need to try and switch firmwares using front panel buttons

Mine updated to 3.31, but it was ill, so I switched back to 2.99 via the secret green button menu in help

After a power cut, the box will spend quite a long time (several minutes) in amber mode with occasional green flashes as it checks the disk and removes any corrupted recordings. When turning the mains power off you should wait at least 20 seconds before turning it back on.

I assume you have followed http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1196766423/3#3 to switch firmware

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls try:

  • unplug form the mains for an extended period of time;
  • check if any of the front panel buttons are stuck;
  • verify that the remote has fresh batteries and that the battery terminals & contacts are clean and corrosion free.
  • postback for the exact model number of your Thomson PTV;
  • info for anything out of the ordinary prior to his fault, power outages/interruptions, thunder storm, the remote keys/combinations were inadvertently pressed, another device was tried to be installed and others.
If the above initial solution has merit and should you need additional information, pls click on my "Ask Me". Alternately, postback here how things turned up and to explore your additional options.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

Appreciate the responses/postback. I was made to understand that your Thomson DTI6300 160gb Freeview Digital TV Recorder could be suffering from:

    • firmware update corruption (most likely). This could have been brought about by a power fluctuation/failure when it was updating. A proposed solution is to trick the unit to revert to its old firmware. The procedure (a bit tricky) would be:

    1. remove power for 10 seconds

    2. press on/off repeatedly on off on off on off etc

    3. insert power cable (keep pressing on/off)

    4. when the "amber" light stops blinking you have 6 seconds to press MENU (press once) then OK (press once)

    5. the box will then re-boot and toggle firmware.

    • HDD (hard disk drive)crash (likely) see if you can have it replaced by TopUpTV. Pls call 08444 159 159.
If it were a firmware glitch, it maybe required to do a format and a re-scan. This of course would delete all recorded programs.

    Cheers.

You need to set your tv to the output of the set top box. Hopefully NOT a cable company style cable, but rather RGB or HDMI.

Message taken from TopUpTV
Does your Thomson DTi6300 fail to power on normally and displays a solid amber light? During the past few days we have been made aware of an issue affecting a number of our customers with a Thomson DTi6300 box. Customers have been experiencing problems with their box failing to come out of standby mode and typically showing a constant amber light on the front panel.

This fault is due to a broadcast issue which  has led to a corrupt file being loaded onto the hard disk.

Only Thomson DTi6300 boxes have been affected. If you have been experiencing problems of this nature first of all try switching your box off at the wall and leave for twenty seconds. If this does not work, please try the following procedure.

Please note this will unfortunately cause recordings in your programme library to be lost which we?re very sorry about. You may have to try this procedure a few times in order to resolve the issue as it requires complete attention and precise timing.

1.       Disconnect the power supply from the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the box.
2.       Wait 20 seconds and then put the power cable back in while pressing the 'standby/power on' buttonrepeatedly on the front panel of the box.
3.       Release the standby button as soon as you see a light flash on the front of your box and thenimmediately press the arrow buttons on the front panel quickly and in the following sequence:  Up, Down, Left, Right (please note this is not the order the arrow buttons appear on the box).
4.       Your box should then show the amber light with the green light flashing until the disk re-format has been completed which will take around 60 seconds. The box should return to a solid red light (standby) automatically. If after 2 minutes your box still does not display a solid red light, please repeat steps 1-4.
5.       When you return to the TV GUIDE screen, you will now need to scan for channels to restore your Top Up TV channel logos. To do this, please select Option 4 (set-up) from the Main Menu, followed by option 1 (scan for channels).
6.       IMPORTANT: Once you have completed your channel scan, you will need to select option 5 from the Main Menu (Choose your channels) to re-select all those channel providers you would like Top Up TV to download shows from.

We?re really sorry if you have been affected by this issue and greatly regret any inconvenience this may have caused.

My thomson dti 6300 250gb free view box wont turn on

Emailed Topuptv and got this reply

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Top Up TV.

Please note that we are currently aware of an issue affecting some Thomson DTi6300 boxes.

If your DTR will not come out of standby and is not responding to your remote control, please try the following procedures.

Step 1: Power cycle
First of all, remove the power to the box and wait 20 seconds before restoring power.
Wait while the box tries to restart and allow 2 -3 minutes for this to complete.
Try this at least twice.
If it doesn't go to the solid green light then proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Front Panel Reset

Note: This procedure will unfortunately cause you to lose all of the recordings that you have stored on the box. You will need to be able access the back of the DTR and the front panel buttons

1. Remove power to the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the DTR.
2. Wait 20 seconds and restore the power cable while holding in the standby/power on button on the front panel of the DTR.
3. Release the standby button immediately you see a light 'blip' on the DTR front display and then immediately press the following front panel arrow buttons in sequence Up>Down>Left>Right
4.The DTR will now show the Orange LED with the Green LED flashing until the format has been completed in about 60 seconds. The DTR will return to ON automatically.
5. If requested, perform a channel scan to complete the operation.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Our Customer Services department can also be contacted on 08444 159 159. However, please note that we are currently experiencing high call volumes and so may not be able to answer your call as quickly as we would like.

Kind Regards,
Richard

User manual needed

remove power at plug socket
when you plug power back in start to repeatedly press the standby button on the front of the box
when this causes the orange light to stop flashing press the buttons up, down, left, right
(these buttons are on the front of the box not the remote)

this causes the hard drive to reset itself
WARNING
this will cause the box to completely reformat meaning you will loose all data recorded

but after this reset the box will work as new

Set top box and remote control

I have the same problem. When I move the 8300HDC away from the TV, or power off the TV, the remote responds. There seems to be some kind of RF interference, which makes no sense since the TV shouldn't emit RF, and the the box should be using IR only for remote input. My TV is a 46" LCD Samsung. Try turning off the TV and see if the 8300HDC responds to powering on and off with the remote.
