If the orignal prints from the camera is light it will print dim from the computer.still u can adjust the printquality from printer properties and make the prints darker.and also try checking any other print from the printer except the prints from camera.if that also comes dim then it might be printer problem as u said the cartridges r new,the print head needs reparing and cleaniong if the head is blocked.

    Check printer properties.

Ensure that the printer is not set to economy mode/fast print.

    Increase printer resolution settings.

Ensure that the paper type is set up correctly, if you print on photo paper using plain paper settings, you get dim colors.

If this cannot fix the problem, the printer color managment can have a problem, this may be realted to a main board or firmware defect, or to a bad print head.

I just recived a used BJC-85 its is printing fine in black and white but not color whats wrong

Try some of the following possible problems:

1. Make sure the color cartridges are installed correctly.
2. Make sure the cartridges are not expired. There should be a date on the sticker on them.
3. Make sure that the cartridges are clean. Sometimes the ink can build up on the cartridges and stop ink from coming out.
4. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes. Find your printer and right click, then press Printing Preferences. In the options there make sure that color is selected.

Canon IP4300 - the two black ink cartridges

No!

The large cartridge is used for text only printing.
The smaller black cartridge is used for black in images such as pictures.

You have a "C (cyan) M (magenta) Y (yellow) and B (black) color system. This actually saves the color inks for you. If the Black was not there, you would need to make a composite black from the color inks.

PRINTING WITH BLACK INK CARTRIDGE ONLY; COLORED CARTRIDGE IS EMPTY.

Apparently, if you hold the "resume button" (the one next to the power button) for about five seconds after you get the message saying to replace the color ink cartridge the machine starts printing. I did this after I went to "maintenance" under "preferences" and changed ink to "black only." At first that alone did not work, but after trying the resume button for 5 secs it worked okay.

Canon IP90 portable . No ink printing.

Have you performed a nozzle test? If one or more of the colors is missing when you do the nozzle test, the printhead itself is likely in need of replacement.

Before considering replacment, perform a clean on the printer. Due to variations between mac and pc, please see your documentation / support files on how to perform the clean on your printer.

After performing the clean, again perform the nozzle check to see if the problem is resolved.

If still not resolved, remove and re-install any cartridges you recently replaced to make certain they are installed correctly.
