Question about Canon Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

Hi, we have a problem with our Canon Pixma IP3000 printer. Looks like Cyan and Magenta nozzles are badly clogged (countless cleans and deep cleans did not make any difference). I would admit that it was not used for colour printing for a while - we use it only to print on CDs. Can we do some advanced cleaning for ourselves or have to buy a new printhead? Thank you Ms Olga Likhatcheva, New Zealand

I use an ultrasonic bath for clening badly clogged nozzles. You can also try soaking in warm water for 15 mins. If this doesn't help then you might have to get a new head.

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge on my Canon Pixma IP3000 but it is not printing - absolutely blank. However the colour cartridges are printing fine. Any clues?

Assuming a windows computer ... go to the printers section, right click on the IP3000, click on propterties then the maintenance tab. Try cleaning or deep cleaning and then nozzle check.

Canon PIXMA iP3000. I have completed a nozzle check, but have odd results... BLACK-Perfect CYAN-4 EQUALLY SPACED WHITE LINES...NO DROP OUTS PALE CYAN-PERFECT MAGENTA- 4 EQUALLY SPACED WHITE LINES...NO DROP...

Inkjet printers do not like being left unused for long periods.
Some of the color print head may be blocked. Try several deep cleaning of the print head to see if it can clear the blocked print nozzles.
If none of this works then the print head needs to be replaced.
A new cartridge will not solve this problem.
NOTE the print head is not a cheap item, you may consider putting the money towards a new and better printer.

Canon Pixma yellow color problem

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.

My printer has stopped printing from the cyan ink

Hi, did you let the ink cartridge dry out completely before inserting a new cyan cartridge???

If this is the case you may have a bit of trouble getting the ink through the printhead...you have to persevere with deep cleaning and/or head cleaning...
if that does not work you may need a new printhead...which is usually dearer than a new printer...
I would also take the printhead out and clean the contacts with Isopropol alcohol...do not get finger prints on the contacts...that will stop it very quickly...
just a thought...did you remove the sealing tape over the airholes and bottom feeder hole on the cartridge???
if the airholes are sealed the cartridge pulls a vacuum and the ink will not flow...
hope this helps you...
cheers

IP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

Does anyone know how to remove print head?

The print head nozzles is clogged but good. None of the cleaning the machine can do will clear it. Been there and trid that. Doesn't work. The clogs need to be dissolved with a specialty clog buster and probably will need to soak at least 24 hours, maybe more. Don't deep clean any more as you will put so much in in the absorbent blotters on the inside of the printer that you will trigger an error code and not be able to print until the absorbant pads are replaced by a service tech for about $100.

Magenta printing as yellow

Well, first off, are the alignment, and nozzle check sheets looking good? If not, then work on that. If so, then we have a problem. Try creating a test sheet in Word. Make red, yellow blue & black text and see if anything else prints wrong. Get back to me!
