SOURCE: do i need a sd

Yes you do. The Vivitar DVR 410 requires a standard SD memory card (up to 16GB) to record images or video. The 410 is NOT designed to accept SDHC memory cards so make sure you purchase the proper type.

I want to upload a video to my macbook pro for an iMovie, but it says I need a Fire Wire...Is it possible to connect my Vivitar DVR 410 to a FireWire cable?

As a tech, I found FireWire cables to be vastly unreliable, but if you just have to have one, do NOT scrimp. Get one that is heavy duty. The thicker the cable, the better. Avoid flexing the cable near the connectors if at all possible.

My new vivitar dvr 410 wont take pictures - the screen says "card protect" is this camera broken or is there a secret to using it... Thank you! B

Take out the memory card and find a switch on it. You may have accidentally set the switch on the memory card to enable write protection. Switch it off and reinsert the card into the device, and it should be able to work now.

My vivitar 410 is saying the memory is full but it has a brand new sd card???

Hi

There are two Vivitar DVR-410 models. A model released in the early 2000's and a newer version released in 2010.

If you have the the earlier DVR-410 model then it will probably only use low capacity SD cards - e.g. 512Mb or lower. if you are trying to use a higher capacity card on this model it may well show that it is full.

If you have the modern 2010 version of the DVR-410 then it can uses SD cards upto 2Gb and SDHC cards upto 16Gb

You should also check the card you are trying to use is formatted, and the lock switch is not set.

Hope this helps

Just bought this camara and ever time we put in the memory card it just keeps popping back out. What our we doing wrong? Also I put in the installation CD and now I can't find it to get to the manual....

When a memory card keeps popping back out it means it is inserted the wrong way. first of all make sure that the end with the bare metallic connectors is the first one to go in . next try flipping it the opposite way and insert it in again. Always make sure that the end with thw bare metallic connectors is the first one to go in
