Make sure you have a wireless card installed. It's either under the keyboard or an access panel in the bottom plastics. If you don't have one, you can get one off ebay. They're not that expensive.

If you do have one, go into the BIOS and make sure it is activated.

Press the the F3 key while pressing the FN key.

if it takes no effect, try installing the drivers at http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400

My dell inspiron 1545 wont connect to linsys-g

Your laptop may have a pre-defined Ip address locked in for your work connection. Did your buddy use the laptop at your place of employment, or was it used at his home? Sometimes an ip is entered manually in the tcp/ip menu locking it to a certain address. To check this opem metwork connections in control panel and right click your wireless device then choose properties and left click. Scroll to the TCP/IP line and go to properties. Make sure everything thereis set to automatic.

Wont connect to belkin 54g with wpa security applied

Please try using Wireless 'G' mode only in the router. Also, try using 'TKIP' and not TKIP+AES for encryption.

Please rate this solution, if it works for you.

Wireless Internet wont work unless I plug in a wire

QuickSet utility Wireless options can cause these issues.

There is a setting to always deactivate on battery. Make sure this is not set up. The correct setting would be Always active on battery or Always On, or no power saving options for Wi-Fi. Depending on the version of QuickSet which you have.

Wlan not working on dell vostro 1000

Try disable, then re-enable the driver, if still no luck, try to locate the wireless adapters properties an check to see if all is in order, ch, SSID, everything must match to the wireless signal. (by the way where is the signal coming from ?) your router ? or else where ?

PC CARD WONT WORK

Sounds as though theres no power getting to the card if theres no light on it - the dell 6XX series has a weakness in the PCMCIA connector too - it can easily flex and seperate from the socket on the motherboard over time and especially in transit. I wouldnt suggest trying to fix it yourself but dell will send someone out to fix it if its under warranty or for a small fee if not. hope this helps

Dell Inspiron 1526 wireless

Usually this is a driver problem, in which you have the wrong driver trying to configure the wireless. Some wireless drivers and cards are so similar that they will install and either show and network but won't connect, or show the card working but won't see the network. Take the cover off the bottom and get the make and model of the card, then find the right driver either at Dell's support site or driverguide.com. Dell uses several different wireless cards and checking the make and model of the card is the only sure way of knowing you have the correct driver.
