Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

Acer aspire 3000 won't hold a charge

The hole where you plug in the charger seems to be broken. the charger itself still has a green light, so i don't think that is the problem. i would have to sit there and hold the charger in a certain place the entire time i was on it. and it seemed to be harder and harder to get it to charge until eventually it stopped all together. what i want to do is download all of my pictures on there to a disc. i don't have a problem sending it to acer and getting it fixed, but i don't want the hard drive wiped clean yet. all i really need is a charged battery to borrow for like 20 minutes until i am finished downloading my pictures. i live in erie,pa. unless there is another way to charge the battery i have? or some other solution. please help!

ok, i am not sure that i follow you completely. my charger has one wire that goes in the wall and one in the laptop. so, i don't think it's what your describing. just to clarify, it's the hole in the laptop that is broken. anyways, i will show my husband your email and maybe he can figure it out. thank you very much for helping. God Bless you as well.

Ok, thank you very much. I'll have him take a look and if we have any more questions (which we probably will) I will let you know.

do you know how to get there exactly? we both have had it apart already and we can see the place where the charger plugs in, it just seems impossible to get to it. any suggestions?

This sounds like it's really going to work! I'll let my husband know and get back to you. Thanks!

OK i understand now. I thought the charger was broke. Tell your husband if he can get to the soldered connections where the plugin is on your laptop he can take the end off the charger and solder the wires to the connections directly. I'm sorry for not understanding and i get carried away sometimes i have been doing this fixing stuff all my life and forget other people might not be able to do the things i have grown to do.

Its 14.8 volt battery so have you got any chargers laying around the house above 14.8 to say 18 volt? cause if you do and your charger uses two wires cut the charger off keep the wires going to your acer. ok then take the other power supply take most of the wire off. connect the wire together from the plug to the other power supply plug it in . watch to see if the light on your laptop shows charging light if not just switch wires .I have made my own power supplies on a lot of my equiptment because you can buy stuff cheap without power supplies :-)
    God Bless you Greg

IDEA! maybe a better solution. Going at this another way. Take the battery out because its what needs charged anyway. You should be able to see the connections.I don't know if it tells you positive or negative tho but this can be done with a voltage meter. If you hook the voltage meter up on dc voltage it will read backwards if its hooked up wrong. This will tell you which one is positive and negative. You can do this with the power supply too.when you have that figured out we are going to connect the power supply directly to the battery. after you cut the plug off and strip the wires connect the wires with tape or anyway you can to make connection and let charger charge till battery is built up.

I wanted to send this too it may be of some help to you sometime. Its an address to a acer manual
God Bless Greg

Battery won t hold charge

If your battery does not hold charge, and you don't want to buy a replacement, then there is not much can do other than to keep using your laptop with the charger. All batteries have a time life span.

Acer Aspire 5552 won't power up, charge light flashes on and off

Remove the battery and plug in the Cord/charger, will it boot? If no, try another Cord/Charger with the EXACT same power specs. Replace battery if necessary.

Dell inspiron M5030 won't charge, green light is

This is a common problem. It may be that the charger is dammaged. these Dell chargers have a micro thin communication cable in them that tell the charger to charge the battery. this micro thin cable can often break. Its use it to prevent the laptop battery from over charging, but if it breaks or becomed broken inside tha charger cable, then the laptop simply won't get the charge signal and the battery won't charge. If this is the case, then you will need to replace the charger with another Dell charger compatible with your laptop

It won't charge and the power and batter light are all blinking

The first steps you could apply are-

1. Check the plug points. Test some other charger on the same plug point. If it's working, then go for the next step.

2. Use an alternate acer aspire 3000 charger. If you have a friend with the same laptop / same charging adaptor, borrow it and see whether the laptop is being charged from that. Or you could go to an electronics shop and see whether they have a spare charger just for checking purposes. If no adapter works, then it's not the adapter's fault, it's the fault of the laptop charging port.

3. To be sure, you could attach your adapter to an extension cable (a spike guard would be suitable. It prevents sudden peaks in current, thereby protecting your laptop from damage) . If it doesn't charge still, it's a fault within the laptop.

To check the charging port within the laptop, you'll have to go to a hardware specialist (assuming that like me, you're not adept at hardware!) . The specialist should guide you properly.

If the laptop is within the warranty period, you could try the service centre. Hope I've helped :)

Not charging Acer Aspire 5732z, now won't turn on!

If it does not work with the Charger while the battery is out then I would say either your charger is bad, the dc power jack where the charger plugs into the laptop is bad or you've got motherboard issues. Does the charger have a light on it to indicate that it is on when plugged in the wall? Do you see any lights when you plug the charger into the laptop?

Take an ink pen and see if the little pin inside the computer where the charger plugs is loose and moves a bit. If so that is probably your problem. If the pin is tight and the charger works, then you've got motherboard issues.
