Question about iRiver H10 MP3 Player

System files - windows doesnt seem to now be able to detect iriver

I disconnected accidently whilst uploading to my iriver (whilst writing)... it now says 'system files missing' ' top restore the system files connect h10 to iriver plus' sounds easy huh?... windows (xp) detects the iriver as a mass storage device but not as a seperate drive... the iriver plus )program) does seem to detect the attachment of the iriver... (even tho windows beeps.. indicating its detection). I have read else where on the net that i need to format the iriver... but i cant seem to do this whilst its not showing up as a drive (and there doesnt seem to be a 'format' option available under the device drivers --> disk drives) PLEASE HELP ME... Yoursz in desperation Bob (thankyou!)

There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites.

WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.

Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to Windows-based computers.
You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself:
Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.

My iRiver H340 player is showing the HDD error message "Total: 0000 Folders(s)" after I inadvertently disconnected the player from my PC whilst transferring music. Hence I can't access my music...


There is a chance that the file structure has been corrupted and the player cannot retrieve the directories.

I suggest you saving the files onto your computer and perform a format on the players's harddrive. Use a Windows utility or a programs like FAT32formater, available here:

Folders on iRiver mp3 player can't be removed...help!

try to full format the mp3
Just follow these steps below:

Go through: Setting>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk management>
Try to format it with fat files system or the file system you are accustomed with.

Iriver plus 3 not recognising iriver x20 player


try to upload the songs onto it with windows media player 11 i only use iriver plus 3 for videos
when ur in windows media go into sync then it has like a side bar just drag the music into that and down the bottom of the bar it says sync press that
and if that doesnt work u might have to buy a new one

T10 MP3 file check error


Make sure you downloaded the firmware from the official product page, if the firmware doesnt work try downloading an older version. Some firmwares have problems detecting updates.

Still, my guess is that you are not downloading from iriver site.

Iriver won't let me upload from CDs and transfer....


go to my computer and open the C drive /create a new folder my music (rename it) ...ok now plug up iriver to pc...again go to start/my computer/ see the iriver drive open it...now you should see all the files on the iriver also...place both window side by side (or top & bottom) and click & drag (or copy & paste) from both iriver and pc...now you can save and copy from either one..........

Unzip file, run .exe file, go thorugh wizard (if you are not in mass storage mode, it will give you instructions on the wizard on how to change this) 3. Select Recovery 4. Finish going through wizard 5. disconnect iRiver from computer, and wait for it to update - your player should be good.
If the problem happens again, then uninstall Windows Media Player 11 from your computer and rollback to Windows Media Player 10 (you will NOT lose any songs by doing so).

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Not Synchonizing mp3


I clean format. Via Windows explorer. Right click the drive and then format it as FAT32. Once its done, unplug it and open the iriver software. Plug it in and see if that works. Good luck
