Perform a Linksys reset:

The easiest method of resetting your Linksys router's password is to reset your router back to the default factory settings. This is done by simply holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password "admin", in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to "admin" on some of the newer Linksys router models).

Router setup
You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:

Are you using a Linksys wireless router? It wasn't clear from your question.

Assuming you are, you'll need to reset the router to factory default, and then reconfigure it. Press the "Reset" button on the back of the router for at least ten seconds, then release. Then use your browser to go to and use username "admin" and password "admin" to enter the setup pages. You can then reset your wireless password, etc. You'll have to re-enter the new logon information in Windows as well.

You should also set the router's access password to something secure, as it seems someone "got into it" while you were gone and played around.

Hope that's helpful.

Win 7 Should supply the drivers or software automaticly.
Try this.
1 Shut down pc.Remove all cables from router including power cable.
2 There should be a reset button in the back of the router hold it in with a pen tip or paper clip for 1 min.
3 Plug power back into router and all cables.
4 Restart pc.
Once pc is started go to control panel/network and sharing center, and be sure your on home netwok.
If you are asked for a wep code from the router.
1 Open up your browser and type in in address bar and hit enter.

username will be admin
password will be the word password

Once in look under security settings and you will find the wep code wich you may need to enter in your adapters setup program.

Im going to leave you a link to your routers manufacturer.

Have wireless pc in kitchen with this connected. Just upgraded my old Linksys to D-Link N router the pc in the kitchen will not connect now. Any help? Thanks

- you need to hard a pc to your new DLINK router by using a cat 5/6 cable (aka ethernet cable).
- open your web browser (IE, Mozilla)
- access control panel of dlink by typing on the address bar
- Select Admin from the drop-down menu and then enter your password. Leave the password blank by default.
- go to wireless settings...Check the box to enable the wireless function. If you do not want to use wireless, uncheck the box to disable all the wireless functions.
- Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name of your wireless network. Create a name using up to 32 characters. The SSID is case-sensitive.
- Start the wizard.(wireless wizard)
- follow the steps
- I should recommend using wpa tkip
- please remember the NETWORK KEY...this is your password

for your linksys..

make sure the device driver is properly install. use the linksys program to scan your wireless setup you just made. then connect...

hope this helps

My network says that it can't find the internal wireless adapter

well! friend i use to work for netgear and let me tell you if your wireless network was unsecured then somebody connected to your router wirelessly and enabled password on your is quite possible that your router login password is also changed.if not then you are lucky.try this ->
goto start - run - type CMD and press enter in the DOS window type ipconfig and enter whatever is the default gateway is just copy inter explorer and type that default gateway in the address bar and will ask you for username and password.use the username and password provided on the back the router on the sticker.get into your router`s settings goto wireless section and change the would be WEP or WPA.always keep security or that guy will hack your wireless again. if it doesn`t work then you have to reset the router by pressing the little button on the back for 10 to 15 seconds.reconfigure your router with the help of the CD that came with it you can also do it manually if you know.

you can try updating the drivers for the wireless card and also you can change the wireless channel for the router....downl below is the link to download the drivers...
to change the channel number you need to go to the desktop which is connected to the 2wire router, click on start, run, cmd and hit enter, once you are in this black box type in ipconfig and hit enter, out of these results search for deault gateway it shuld be like a note of this numbers.Open up a browser page and type the numbers in the address box it should open 2wire box,you will see may tabs click on top click on the tab that says home network,in the page you will see another option that says wireless settings, click on wireless settings, once you click this tab you will be told to put in the password, put in the password that is generally the word password or admin, once you are through you will be navigated to the wireless settings page you will see channel number it might be 6 change it to eihter 9 or 11 as these are least channel where there will be least interference..once you change it to these number click on save try connecting to the network and check if it is working properly now....
best of luck.....try out the steps incase you are stuck let me know for any clarification
