Question about PDAs

I have Palm One software installed on my desktop. It has Windows XP home edotion software. I have had no difficulties until recently, last two or so months, when I attempt to access my Palm info on my desktop, it generates an error message that requires a shutdown. The error report to Microsoft says that the problem is with Palm's software, go figure. Any information?

I'm not sure the firmware or the PDA is the problem. I have the address directory stored on my desktop, been stored for over a year and has worked well until the last couple of weeks. I dont use my PDA very often, just the program on my desktop. MIcrosoft says the problem is with Palm. Just sayin'.

You unit might have been affected by virus. First you can try to scan it using virus scanner. If that did not fix it, you can try to reset the unit back to factory defaults. If all else fails, re-install the firmware of the PDA. Go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest firmware.

The first thing that you can try is doing a system restore to a recent date, before you started having the problem.

System restore it is often the first tool to solve problems on your computer.
    Each
time you do an update, or install a new software, system settings will
be modified, sometimes this can cause Windows operative system
    malfunctions.
System restore to a date before you had the problem can repair most Windows faults.
    Here is the how to:

Before starting System restore close all this running applications.

You can start System restore from start menu:

    1.

    Click Start.

    2.

    Point to All Programs.

    3.

    Point to Accessories.

    4.

    Point to System Tools.

    5.

    Click System Restore.

    6.

Follow the instructions on the wizard.

You can also start system restore to create a restore point before making an important change to the system.
For example you can decide to create a restore point before installing a new anti virus, or downloading Internet Explorer update.

Hi, if the program shuts down, I would recommend you fully uninstall the software and then download and install the latest version of the software.. Palm Desktop is it?

Sony Clie PEG-T615C Hotsync doesn't work with my Windows Vista Home Edition

I must maintain my older XP system just to maintain my pda. Awkward, for sure. I have not contacted Sony yet.

I once discarded a very nice, functioning rinter by Canon because there was no driver for XP.

Ouch!

Palm M515 and compatibility with Vista Home Premium

I was having a similar problem with my M515.  I had originally installed the Palm Desktop from my CD, which was an older version.  When I totally uninstalled the old version and installed the newer version from the Palm website I was able to do a successful sync.  I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate and Palm Desktop version 4.1.4

CD and Vista

I suggest you create a dual boot situation with your computer, so it will run either XP or Vista. Most computer books will tell you how to set this up (not difficult). As for the software installation CD--check Ebay. People sell them often, whether originals or copies.

Installing this PDA on Windows Vista Home Premium laptop

you shouldnt need a device driver for your pda to work along side with Vista, as Vista has it's own Windows mobile device centre which should run as soon as you connect your pda to a usb port. If it doesnt run, then open up windows mobile device centre in programmes and check the mobile device settings as to whether usb is set to connect to the centre.

This one is simple - Tablet edition is not supported. Sorry to break the news to you but palmOne soes not support synchronization with Tablet editions of Windows. If you can get it to work, great but you cannot get direct support for it.
