Question about Sony KP-41T65 41" Rear Projection Television
I have a Sony KP-41T65. It went out the other day while watching it. I pulled the back off of it and turned the power on. I could see about half way back on the left hand side a small silver/grey looking piece soddered to the circuit board. That is the piece that is smoking when turned on. I don't know if it has anything to do with the TV not having a picture or sound. You do hear a click through the speakers when the TvV is turned on. Do you think this is the only problem and is it costly.
Check to see where the smoke is comming from, the far left side of the unit, it is probably the flyback/horizontal output transformer. The big gray/black thing on the board with the two red wires out of the top of it.Replace the horizontal output transistor (D2348) with a new one to increase reliability. It is the large three leged transistor to the left of the transformer. Use Sony parts if possible.
