Question about Mitsubishi WS-55805 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mits WS-55805 won't even turn on. Did have sound, but no sound now

We need to find a copy of the Service Manual (online, if possible, for quick retrieval) for the WS-55805 Projection TV. First the picture went, but you could still turn it on and hear sound; then the sound went also, and now you don't even hear the static of it turning on. My husband was an electronics tech in the Navy and is our in-house mechanic/repair-man, but we can't find the service manual. Anyone have it online, can point us to it or can email it (or a working link) to us?
Thanks!
D

A full service manual is available online---I will presume you tried to unplug it for a while and then power back to see if will reset itself.

This set has three hidden menus---one is the OPTION menu--in that menu with the Mitsubishi remote you can do a hard reset of the entire set= sets all back to factory except convergence adjustments which are stored in another area--cures all kinds of oddball issues.

I can give you a link to the manual and the page numbers for the OPTION menu.

Note: the other two hidden menus are Convergence and adjustment--do not go into adjustment menu as one wrong move and poof!

I have a WS-55805. Was working great, then suddenly no picture, just audio. When I press the Menu button, I get the menu but I see three separate colors for each menu item. Could this be the lamp, or...

This TV does not have a single lamp but a set of CRT tubes.

If you get menu displayed on wrong clors or colors are not matching then it is either a bad CRT, a bad CRT high voltage power board, or sometimes a problem with convergence board and convergence ICs, however in this last case you usually get no picture and no sound .

Won't turn on

If the LED never stops blinking, you have a failure in the DM module. It is usually caused by 4 or 7 1000uf capacitors going bad inside the module. Mits says to replace with 680uf 16v caps to fix..

Power on and off

you would need to trouble shoot the standy voltages and see whats happening with them. I would suggest getting a service manual from the following link as they will email it to you quickly after purchase and they will provide free tech support to help you diagnose and repair your set. FIRST CHECK CONNECTOR "DR" FOR PROPER CONNECTION, BETWEEN THE DEFL MINI PCB AND THE MAIN PCB. 2. CHECK C5A09 AND C5A50 BOTH 33 UFD 50 V OFF OF IC5A01 ON PCB-DEFL MINI. 3.
